  • Settlement Profiles
Settlement Profiles Local Plan Evidence Base www.doncaster.gov.uk Doncaster Settlement Profiles 1.1. As part of the emerging Local Plan, a Settlement Audit was undertaken in 2014 to better understand the service provision across the borough, which in turn helped to determine the Local Plan Settlement Hierarchy. This process is dealt with at length in both the Settlement Audit and the Settlement Background Paper. 1.2. However, some consultation responses to the Settlement Audit and the Homes and Settlements consultation intimated that the Settlement Audit could be further expanded on and clarified. 1.3. As such, the following profiles have been developed which seeks to provide portraits of each defined settlement within the borough (the Main Urban Area; 7 Main Towns; 10 Service Towns and Villages; and 12 Defined Villages). 1.4. Each portrait will expand on the results of the Settlement Audit, and will provide ‘profiles’ for each settlement, dealing with social, economic and environmental matters, as per the Settlement Audit. 1.5. Occasionally, some scores or information published in the Settlement Audit Update (2017) have been amended. These amendments and the rationale are presented overleaf in Table A. 1.6. Information about the Settlement Hierarchy and allocations within each settlement are provided in the Settlement Background Paper and Site Selection Methodology. For convenience, a number of abridged settlement profiles have also been provided in the Settlement Housing Summaries. 1 Settlement Amendment Rationale Change to Scores? Auckley – Settlement scores merged Settlement made up of two Scores now reflect the combined settlement proposed Hayfield Community Profile Areas so in the Settlement Hierarchy.

ITFC Away Guide 2021/22 An Introduction to the 23 League One Grounds Prepared by the ITFC Supporter Liaison Officer, with added input from other ITFC staff About this guide • This introductory guide is produced by people who have visited all of the grounds in recent years. • The idea is to help you to plan your away trips – in some cases, to choose which are the grounds / places you most want to go to. • Detailed away guides are produced a few weeks before each match, published on the ITFC website, and available for review at the SLO Hub in the FanZone at ITFC. – Note that up-to-date information on rail engineering works (+ replacement buses) and road closures will be included in the detailed match guides. • In compiling this guide, we have mostly relied on our own knowledge and memories, but we have used several additional resources, including opposition Clubs’ websites, www.greateranglia.co.uk and www.google.co.uk/maps. • In particular, though, we have used the website www.footballgroundguide.com, for stadium information, capacities, away ends, fanzones and parking. We do recommend you take a look at this website as you plan your games – but check out our detailed pre-match guides, issued a couple of weeks before each game, for updated pub information – the last year has seen a lot of pub changes, including some new openings. • Stadium Businesssummit 2010
STADIUM BUSINESS SUMMIT 2010 SURVIVAL STRATEGIES AND WINNING WAYS 17!18 JUNE 2010 CROKE PARK, DUBLIN CONFERENCE PROGRAMME & EVENT GUIDE Welcome to Stadium Business Summit 2010 I’ve been working in the sports event and stadium sector for over 20 years. I believe too many conferences – and industry magazines – are dominated by product promotions, supplier-driven content and what I call ‘death-by-PowerPoint’ presentations. These events invariably fail to deliver great value for their attendees. I felt it was time for a new industry event that focuses on what the stadium professional really needs to know. Where are the revenues coming from? Can we reduce costs and waste? What does sustainability mean in practice? How do we deliver more events? How do we drive visitor numbers? Are our customers happy? So – thanks to our guest speakers, experts and industry leaders – we will address these issues over the next two days in Dublin. It has been a pleasure to work with Peter McKenna, his team at Croke Park and the GAA ‘family’ in planning this year’s meeting. All stadiums are, of course, ‘one of a kind’ and Croke Park is certainly that – in fact, a very special one. It may surprise you to know that the Gaelic sport players who attract the sell-out crowds to this stadium are not the mega-earners of pro-sports. They are all amateurs, volunteering their time and energy to represent their local towns and counties. As such, Croke Park must be one of the largest amateur sport facilities in the world – and you have to be here at an All-Ireland Final to really understand the depth of pride and passion that exists for this stadium.

  • The Emergence and Conceptualisation of Community Stadia
Feature Local Economy 0(0) 1–21 The emergence and ! The Author(s) 2021 conceptualisation of DOI: 10.1177/02690942211003055 community stadia in the UK journals.sagepub.com/home/lec Alexander John McTier University of Strathclyde, UK Abstract New professional sports stadia have been widely advanced as flagship developments that can generate jobs and wealth, support place branding and culture-led strategies, and host mega- events. Public funding for new stadia has been secured on these bases but also challenged as stadia costs are under-estimated and the benefits, particularly for lower income communities, exaggerated. Emerging in this context, community stadia are an intriguing phenomenon as they offer the potential for professional sports stadia to deliver on community aims alongside their sporting, commercial and economic development aims. Public funding has followed with a number of community stadia built or planned in the UK, yet with limited critical analysis of the stadium type and its impact. This paper helps to fill the literature gap by learning from two community stadia case studies: The Keepmoat Stadium, Doncaster and The Falkirk Stadium, Falkirk. It finds that community stadia have the potential to deliver across the four aims, with stadia’s association with the world of professional sport facilitating engagement with multiple, diverse and ‘hard to reach’ communities. However, they are also complex phenomena leading the paper to construct a 12-feature conceptualisation of community stadia that can advance practitioner and academic understanding of the phenomenon. Keywords community, economic development, stadia, stadium, urban regeneration Introduction Since the 1980s, the UK has experienced an unprecedented era of new or redeveloped Corresponding author: professional sports stadia.

Alexander John McTier MA (Joint Hons), MSc. Submitted in fulfilment of the requirements of the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy Adam Smith Business School College of Social Sciences University of Glasgow August 2019 i Abstract Influenced by urban entrepreneurial economic development policy, new professional sports stadia have been widely advanced as flagship developments that can generate jobs and wealth, support place branding and culture-led strategies, and host mega-events that collectively boost the economic competitiveness of their towns and cities. Public funding for stadia developments has been secured on these bases but also increasingly challenged as stadia costs are under-estimated and the benefits, particularly for lower income communities, exaggerated. Responding to these criticisms and with greater policy attention on establishing sustainable communities, the social and community benefits of new stadia developments have increasingly been promoted to secure and justify public investment.
