Why did you decide to make Parasite in Korean? It was a very natural decision. I am based in Seoul, so I wanted to tell the story of the people and neighbourhoods around me; the people I am around and encounter daily. And for that to be authentic, it needed to be in Korean. So much of Parasite revolves around themes relating to class. At what point did you become class-conscious? I think all directors, artists and creatives are interested in class at some level. We all look at people we encounter and wonder how rich they are. We wonder about these sorts of things because we live in an era of capitalism. It’s not like we had a big meeting and said this movie needs to be focused on class, it’s just something that naturally happened. • Chinese Women's Migration to Southeast Asia Since 1978
International21 Shi Xueqin Journal of China Studies Vol. 1, No. 1, January 2010, pp. 216-229 Women, International Migration and Development: Chinese Women’s Migration to Southeast Asia since 1978 Shi Xueqin Xiamen University Abstract The feminization of migration is becoming a significant phenomenon in the era of globalization. Especially in the most populous Asian countries, women’s migration across national borders is emerging as an important social and economic phenomenon and attracting substantial attention. In Asia, China has been a major migrant exporting country for the past centuries, which has generated millions of Diaspora Chinese who are mainly concentrated in the Southeast Asian countries. Since the beginning of the Open and Reform Policy in 1978, Chinese migration to Southeast Asia has been increasing, with the characteristic of feminization which is changing the tradition of Chinese migration being dominated by the Chinese male migrants. On the one hand, female Chinese migration to Southeast Asia represents an important component of women’s international migration, which possesses many common features of women’s migration. On the other hand, Chinese women’s migration to Southeast Asia demonstrates the culture and politics of Chinese migration, which is not only an extension of historical civil association between China and the Southeast Asian countries, but also a result of the normalization of diplomatic relationship and increasingly deepening economic cooperation between China and Southeast Asia. Generally speaking, Chinese female migrants in Southeast Asia play an important role in promoting the development of civil relationship between China and Southeast Asia. However, the issues brought about by Chinese female migrants in Southeast Asia, such as the Chinese doll syndrome as well as errant Chinese tourists, Dr Shi Xueqin 施雪琴, Associate Professor, Faculty of International Relations and Research School of Southeast Asian Studies, Xiamen University; Deputy Director, Institute of Malaysian Studies, Xiamen University, Fujian Province, China.

The project explored four composite case studies portraying experiences observed in Singapore. Each case study was constructed from a composite of personalities and a matrix of events and drew from my knowledge of actual persons and experience of real-life scenarios. The studies were analyzed using logotherapy in a pastoral ministry setting. The cognitive, affective, and behavioral outcomes anticipated demonstrated the suitability of logotherapy as a model of meaning-centered pastoral ministry in the contemporary Singaporean context. MEDIA RELEASE: REASSESSMENT OF THE NATIONAL CREATIVE INDUSTRY (DIKN) MEDIA RELEASE RIM FULLY SUPPORTS KKMM’S CALL TO REASSESS AND IMPROVE THE NATIONAL CREATIVE INDUSTRY POLICY (DIKN) 4 JUNE 2020, KUALA LUMPUR: The Recording Industry Association of Malaysia (RIM) welcomes the recent statement by the Minister of Communication and Multimedia (MCM), Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah’s on the need to reassess the National Creative Industry Policy (NCIP). In a message of support, RIM Chairman, Kenny Ong, said that “The Recording Industry Association of Malaysia has long believed that the NCIP must be reassessed and revised in line with global and technological changes engulfing the creative industries. Improving this Policy is crucial to ensure the growth of the local creative industry. RIM also supports the move for an audit to be conducted, as the creative industry fund is limited, and there should be proper planning so that future expenses yield positive returns. This would allow for the development of a more transparent and responsible eco-system for the national creative industry. Among some of the objectives which RIM suggested could be improved in the current NCIP are: Improving the welfare of music industry players and resolve their issues, for example registration and documentation of individuals (SOCSO, EPF, IRB), entrepreneurship and bank loans Re-establishing matching grants for local repertoire i.e. Music production & marketing, tour support To support accreditation programs which recognizes and celebrates the best of the various creative industries, such as the prestigious Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM) show Introducing tax breaks and incentives to attract more corporate investments to develop the local industry into a more vibrant scene Establishing Malaysia as a music and arts city by improving its venue circuits & infrastructure Improve the local institutional support i.e.
