Re-using some of the music of his “Viaggio a Reims”, Rossini produced what one critic called “the most innovative, ambiguous, mysterious, seductive, Ory singular, exciting and memorable Rossini opera, neither entirely buffo nor entirely serious” (Il Resto del Carlino), a “precious and sublimely delicate musical score” (Corriere Conductor Paolo Carignani Adriatico). Orchestra Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna With its medieval tale of a melancholy countess Chorus Prague Chamber Choir pursued by the Don Giovanni-like Count Ory and his Chorus Master Lubomír Mátl page, the libretto deploys an arsenal of disguises and mistaken identities (including men in nuns’ habits) that Le Comte Ory Yijie Shi requires an inspired directorial hand. Spanish director Le Gouverneur Lorenzo Regazzo Lluís Pasqual (“one of the greatest directors in the world” Isolier Laura Polverelli – Il Messaggero), who also designed the sets and costumes, Raimbaud Roberto De Candia “did not fall short of our expectations” (Il Messaggero). By La Comtesse Adèle María José Moreno staging the work as an aristocratic amusement set in the Dame Ragonde Natalia Gavrilan 1930s, Pasqual doubles the work’s illusion factor and turns Alice Rinnat Moriah it into a spirited play of erotic lightness.
