Re-using some of the music of his “Viaggio a Reims”, Rossini produced what one critic called “the most innovative, ambiguous, mysterious, seductive, Ory singular, exciting and memorable Rossini opera, neither entirely buffo nor entirely serious” (il Resto del Carlino), a “precious and sublimely delicate musical score” (Corriere Conductor Paolo Carignani adriatico).
