Explore Georgia 11 Days Tour Program Detailed Itinerary Day 1/ 6 October Arrive to Tbilisi Arrive to Tbilisi International Airport at 23:45 pm. Meet with the guide and driver from Explore Georgia Ltd. Transfer to hotel for overnight. (-/-/-) Day 2/ 7 October Tbilisi Sightseeing Tour Full day sightseeing tour of Tbilisi. Known as a capital of Georgia from 5th century the city is extraordinary for its turbulent history, elegant and remarkable architecture destroyed and restored through centuries, but keeping entire style of Georgian orthodox religion and traditions. Walk through old city. Visit Metekhi church dated 13th century, Sulfur Bathes, Narikala fortress of 4th century, Old Synagogue, Sioni cathedral known from 7th century, Anchiskhati basilica dated 6th century. *Optional lunch at local restaurant. Visit to Fine Art Museum, Open Ari ethnography Museum near the Turtle Lake. Evening walk along Rustaveli Avenue. Overnight at hotel. (B/-/-) Day 3/ 8 October Tbilisi – David-Gareja – Telavi Drive to eastern Georgia to Kakheti province – rich fertile region with vineyards and wine producing villages. Excursion to David-Gareja semi deserted area and monastery complex founded by one of the Holy Syrian fathers David in 6th century. The site contains two monasteries – Lavra and Udabno. Visit Lavra beneath of the sandstone and hike up to Udabno Monastery located at the edge – natural border of Georgia with Azerbaijan, important for its murals dated from 9th up to 14th centuries. *Optional lunch at local restaurant en-route. Continue to Telavi – center of Kakheti province. Visit to Alaverdi cathedral of 11th century. Dinner and overnight at local guesthouse. (B/-/D) Day 4/ 9 October Telavi – Mtskheta – Gudauri In the morning visit to local food market in Telavi. Drive to Mtskheta – old capital of Kartli-Iberia kingdom known as a political and cultural center from 3rd century BC. Drive up to Jvari Monastery dated 6th century distinguished with harmonious proportions and representing the high achievements of early Georgian Medieval architecture. *Optional lunch at local restaurant. Visit to Svetitskhoveli cathedral and Samtavro Nunnery – 11th century architectural monuments celebrated as a cradle of Christianity and well known as a cross cupola. Drive north along the Georgian Military Highway to Mtiuleti and Khevi provinces. This ancient road is still important as a main link connecting all south Caucasus countries with Russia. Visit to Ananuri architectural complex dated 16th-17th centuries. Evening arrival to Gudauri. Dinner and overnight at hotel. (B/-/D) Day 5/ 10 October Gudauri – Kazbegi Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Kazbegi. At the height of 2379 m the road is crossing the main Caucasus range which is geographical border of Europe and Asia. Walk up to Gergeti Trinity church dated 14th century located at 2180 m from where you can enjoy incredible panorama of Mt. Kazbeg. *Optional lunch. Drive to Dariali Canyon near the Russian border amazing for the view of High Mountains. Walk till Gweleti waterfall. Dinner and overnight at local guesthouse. (B/-/D) Day 6/ 11 October Kazbegi Full day exploration of Kazbegi. Drive to the village of Sno. Full day hiking towards Juta and Chaukhi Mountains. Picnic lunch. Drive back to Kazbegi. Dinner and overnight at hotel. (B/L/D) Day 7/ 12 October Kazbegi – Gori – Kutaisi Breakfast at hotel. Drive from high mountains to the lowlands and valleys of Inner Kartli province towards the Lesser Caucasus to the town of Gori – famous for being a birthplace of J.Stalin. Visit to Stalin’s museum and house of birth in Gori. *Optional lunch at local restaurant. Excursion to Uplistsikhe rock hewn known from 1st millennium BC – a complex of rock cut halls, temples, passage streets, wine pressers, tunnels where Hellenistic period is mixed together with early Christian Age, upper and lower class hierarchy dwellings. Continue to Kutaisi – former capital of western Georgia. Pass Rikoti range that divides eastern and western parts of Georgia. Dinner and overnight at local guesthouse in Kutaisi. (B/-/D) Explore Georgia Ltd Day 8/ 13 October Kutaisi – Bakuriani Morning exploration of the area: visit to Bagrati cathedral of 11th century, Gelati academy and monastery complex dated 12th century important for its murals and mosaics dated from 12th up to 17th centuries. Drive to Samtskhe-Javakiheti province to Bakuriani Mountain resort. *Optional lunch at local restaurant en-route. Evening arrival to Bakuriani. Dinner and overnight at hotel. (B/-/D) Day 9/ 14 October Bakuriani – Borjom-Kharagauli National Park – Bakuriani In the morning drive to Borjom-Kahragauli National Park, one of the biggest parks in Georgia – few kilometers from Bakuriani. Full day hiking in the area. Picnic lunch. Return back to Bakuriani for dinner and overnight at hotel. (B/-/D) Day 10/ 15 October Bakuriani – Borjomi – Tbilisi Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Borjomi Park and Spa – famous for numerous thermal springs. Use Kuku Train from Bakuriani to get till Tsagveri (approximately 1.5-2 hours). *Optional lunch. Drive to Tbilisi. Free evening.
