Travel Information for Training at Perkinelmer's Shelton Facility Information Travel Information to PerkinElmer Travel Information If you are arriving to our site via hotel for Training at shuttle, please proceed to the top of the PerkinElmer's hill, and advise the driver to drop you off at our 24-hour security lobby, parking lot #3. Shelton Facility Please enter the building through the security lobby, where you will sign in and be provided a visitor badge. This badge will allow you to enter and exit our training area. Please carry it with you at all times. You will be asked to sign in each morning and to turn in your visitor badge each evening as per PerkinElmer Security Policy. After signing in, proceed to the cafeteria. There is a sign in the back of the cafeteria marked “Training Meeting Area”. You will be greeted and escorted to your classroom on the first day of class. Service Training Courses Shelton, CT classes run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day unless notified otherwise. Dress is business casual. For safety reasons, shorts, sandals, canvas and open-toed shoes are not permitted. Transportation -- DO NOT TAKE YELLOW CAB/TAXI TO SHELTON--THIS WILL COST OVER $300.00 USD.-- Please note, flights into Newark might be less expensive, however you will need to hire a private car (which is over $180.00 USD one way), or you will need to pick up a rental car. We do NOT have any public transportation from Newark to Shelton. If you are flying into Newark Airport, you may take the Amtrak train to Bridgeport, Connecticut. Please note the cost is between $63.00 and $83.00 (one way) and the last trains leave Newark between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. *RECOMMENDED—RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE Go Airport Shuttle - drops off at Shelton hotels AND PerkinElmer facility: Pick up from LaGuardia and Kennedy Airports only. Directions From LaGuardia Airport: Follow Exit Airport signs to Grand Central Parkway East, which leads to the Van Wyck Expressway to Whitestone Expressway which runs into Whitestone Bridge. Cross bridge and continue on the Hutchinson River Parkway. The Hutchinson River Parkway (Route 15) will turn into the Merritt Parkway at the Connecticut state line. Follow the Merritt Parkway North to Exit 52, Route 8 North to Exit 12. Turn left and go to 2nd light. Turn left onto Bridgeport Avenue. 1st left is PerkinElmer, proceed to Parking Lot #3. From Kennedy Airport: Follow Van Wyck Expressway to Whitestone Expressway which runs into Whitestone Bridge. Directions from this point are the same as from LaGuardia Airport. From Westchester Airport: Ask at tollgate for road to King Street, Route 120A. Turn right on King Street. Continue about three miles to Merritt Parkway East (Route 15). Take Merritt Parkway to Exit 52, Route 8 North to Exit 12. Turn left and go to 2nd light. Turn left onto Bridgeport Avenue. 1st left is PerkinElmer, proceed to Parking Lot #3. From Bradley Airport: Take I-91 South through Hartford, take Exit 28 for Berlin/Wilbur Cross Parkway (Route 15)(3.8 miles). Berlin Turnpike becomes Wilbur Cross Parkway which becomes the Merritt Parkway. Follow Merritt Parkway to Exit 52, Route 8 North, to Exit 12. Turn left and go to 2nd light. Turn left onto Bridgeport Avenue. 1st left is PerkinElmer, proceed to Parking Lot #3. Alternate Routes from Bradley Airport: Route 91: Follow I-91 southbound to I-95 (New Haven). Take Exit 38 for Merritt & W. Cross Parkways, move to left lane (Merritt Pkwy/NYC South). Take Exit 52, Route 8, bear right for Waterbury and continue as above. Route 84: Take I-91 South Take Exit 32A, I-84 West -- Waterbury. Follow I-84 13 miles to Waterbury to Exit 19 (this is a left- hand exit) Route 8 South. Continue down Route 8 and take Exit 12, bear right off ramp onto Old Stratford Road go to first light and turn left onto Bridgeport Ave. Turn left at next light into PerkinElmer, proceed to Parking lot #3. From Hartford: I-91 southbound and follow directions from Bradley Airport. From Boston: Take Massachusetts Turnpike. Watch for US Route 15//Hartford Sign. Take I-91 south to Wilbur Cross Parkway (Route 15) and follow directions from Windsor-Bradley Airport. From New Jersey: Cross Tappan Zee Bridge. Watch for New England signs to Cross Westchester Parkway, I-287 East. Directions from this point are the same as from NYC. From Long Island: Take parkways to Whitestone Bridge. Cross bridge and follow directions from LaGuardia Airport. From New York City: Follow Major Deegan Expressway, US Route 87, into New York Thruway. Watch for signs for Cross Westchester Parkway, I- 287 East, then for Exit 9S-N, which will take you to the Hutchinson River/Merritt Parkways North (Route 15). Follow Merritt Parkway to Exit 52, Route 8 North to Exit 12. Turn left and go to 2nd light. Turn left onto Bridgeport Avenue. 1st left is PerkinElmer, proceed to Parking Lot #3. From Newburgh: Travel East on 84. Take Exit 11 (Rt. 34) go approx. 15 miles through the center of Derby. Take Route 8 South to Exit 12, bear right off ramp onto Old Stratford Road, go to first light and turn left onto Bridgeport Ave. Turn left at next light into PerkinElmer, proceed to Parking lot #3.     HEROES TUNNEL PROJECT ROUTE 15 WILBUR CROSS PARKWAY STATE PROJECT NO. 167-108 PURPOSE AND NEED STATEMENT (Revised 7/3/18) PROJECT CONTEXT The Heroes Tunnel is located along the Wilbur Cross Parkway (Route 15) in the Town of Woodbridge and the City of New Haven, near the Town of Hamden border. The Heroes Tunnel is a 1,200-foot long tunnel, which passes through West Rock Ridge in New Haven and Woodbridge. The existing tunnel was constructed between spring 1948 and fall 1949 and consists of two 28-foot wide by 19-foot high barrels with horseshoe cross-sections. The northbound and southbound barrels of the tunnel consist of two 11-foot wide travel lanes with 6-inch shoulders and a 2-foot 6-inch wide raised maintenance walk on each side. The centerlines of the barrels are approximately 63 feet apart. It is the only tunnel to pass beneath a natural land feature in the State of Connecticut and is eligible for listing on both the National and State Registers of Historic Places. The Heroes Tunnel Project limits encompass the 1,200-foot tunnel and extend approximately 2,000 feet from the tunnel portals, in both the northbound and southbound directions, as illustrated in Figure 1 attached. EXISTING TRANSPORTATION NETWORK The Wilbur Cross Parkway is a limited access highway, classified as an urban principal arterial – other expressway, comprising a portion of Route 15 between Milford and Meriden where commercial vehicles, trailers, towed vehicles and buses are prohibited. As a continuation of the Merritt Parkway in Fairfield County, Route 15 is an important route between the New York City metropolitan area and central Connecticut.

Limited access highways are defined as those that the Commissioner, with the advice and consent of the Governor and the Attorney General, designates as limited access highways to allow access only at highway intersections or designated points. This is provided by Section 13b-27 of the Connecticut General Statutes. This document is distributed within the Department of Transportation and the Division Office of the Federal Highway Administration for information and use. The primary purpose to produce this document is to provide a certified copy to the Office of the State Traffic Administration (OSTA). The OSTA utilizes this annual listing to comply with Section 14-298 of the Connecticut General Statutes. This statute, among other directives, requires the OSTA to publish annually a list of limited access highways. In compliance with this statute, each year the OSTA publishes the listing on the Department of Transportation’s website (http://www.ct.gov/dot/osta). The following is a complete listing of all state numbered limited access highways in Connecticut and includes copies of Connecticut General Statute Section 13b-27 (Limited Access Highways) and Section 14-298 (Office of the State Traffic Administration). All three highways in the project area consist of a complex system of mainline lanes, weave sections and ramp connections that form the I-91/I-691/Route 15 Interchange. The improvements proposed as part of this project encompass highway elements along the northbound direction of I-91 and eastbound direction of I-691 within the limits as described below. The proposed project limits begin on I-91 NB from the junction of the on-ramp from Route 15 NB (MP 19.6) to the Middletown rest area (MP 21.42) for approximately 1.8 miles. The proposed project limits begin on I-691 EB off-ramp (MP 0.02) and extend to its junction with I-91 NB for approximately 0.4 miles. PURPOSE AND NEED: The purpose of this project is to reduce congestion for the traffic movement at the left-handed off-ramp from I-691 EB to I-91 NB and along I-91 NB mainline and address associated safety concerns within the proposed project limits.
