  • Friuli Venezia Giulia: a Region for Everyone
EN FRIULI VENEZIA GIULIA: A REGION FOR EVERYONE ACCESSIBLE TOURISM AN ACCESSIBLE REGION In 2012 PromoTurismoFVG started to look into the tourist potential of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region to become “a region for everyone”. Hence the natural collaboration with the Regional Committee for Disabled People and their Families of Friuli Venezia Giulia, an organization recognized by Regional law as representing the interests of people with disabilities on the territory, the technical service of the Council CRIBA FVG (Regional Information Centre on Architectural Barriers) and the Tetra- Paraplegic Association of FVG, in order to offer experiences truly accessible to everyone as they have been checked out and experienced by people with different disabilities. The main goal of the project is to identify and overcome not only architectural or sensory barriers but also informative and cultural ones from the sea to the mountains, from the cities to the splendid natural areas, from culture to food and wine, with the aim of making the guests true guests, whatever their needs. In this brochure, there are some suggestions for tourist experiences and accessible NATURE, ART, SEA, receptive structures in FVG. Consequently, our knowledge about Holocene carbonate landscapes is often limited. A multidisciplinary study of Trieste Karst (Italy), close to early Roman military fortifications, led to the identification of possible ancient road tracks, cut by at least one sinkhole. Electrical Resistivity Tomography through the sinkhole has suggested the presence of a cave below its bottom, possibly responsible of the sinkhole formation, while Ground Penetrating Radar has detected no tectonic disturbances underneath the tracks.

  • Sustainable Urban Planning Nonprofit Organization
Sustainable Urban Planning Nonprofit Organization Kallipolis is a nonprofit organization that aims at improving livability in urban contexts through the approach of social urbanism. Kallipolis is inspired by the principles of the United Nations Habitat Agenda, that promotes policies for the sustainable development of hu- man settlements and adequate shelter for all. Kallipolis works, in Italy and other countries, to promote a widespread application of the principles of sustainable development, social inte- gration of marginal populations and groups and to support quality of life and safety in urban environments by making use of participatory planning and Agenda 21 tools. Kallipolis focuses on urban quality and safety in the processes of transformation and renovation of the urban fabric. In this context, we have elaborated an approach that aims at identifying risk factors and strenghts through crucial information and looks forward to systematize the collection, production and analysis of data about urban phenomena. This approach requires the participation of citizens and that of all the relevant actors, in order to provide shared strategies. The product of this process allows decision-makers and planners with guidelines to design quality and safety policies in which citizens are crucial factor to reaffirm the livability and sociality of public spaces, in order to ensure a long term, social and economic sustainability of the actions that will be undertaken. Kallipolis is intrinsically multidisciplinary, operating through professionals with different backgrounds from the socio-economic and the technical sectors. Kallipolis’ activities International cooperation We are committed to supporting the principles of urban sustainable development and participatory planning in transition and developing countries.
