Dear Owner /Occupier,

ROAD CLOSURE ADVICE: 2021 HERALD SUN/TRANSURBAN RUN FOR THE KIDS

Herald Sun/Transurban Run for the Kids is coming up on Sunday August 29 2021 and we want to ensure that you’re aware of the impact the event may have on you.

This year will be the 16th running of this iconic event, which continues to be one of the largest fundraisers for the annual Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. An incredible $19.1 million dollars has been raised since the inception of the event in 2006.

These much-needed funds are used to make a difference to the lives of ’s sick and most vulnerable kids. We encourage you to join the 25,000 participants supporting this worthy cause by running or walking in the event, or donating your time as one of our fabulous event volunteers.

On August 29, there will be a number of road closures to manage participant and spectator movements during the event. The event map for both the Long Course and the Short Course distances can be seen inside. More information, including an interactive map showing road impacts is available at runforthekids.com.au/road-closures-details/

Our objective is to close roads for the shortest possible time, and we are focused on minimising disruption wherever possible. There will be a significant impact on traffic in and around the course during the event, with road closures in place to ensure the safety of participants. There is no parking on the course itself during the road closure period. At all times emergency access and the movement of emergency vehicles takes priority.

The detailed road closure schedule, which is subject to change, is contained at the end of this letter.

Please see below specific considerations that relate to the Docklands/New Quay Promenade area:

New Quay Promenade/Waterfront City: 1:30am – 12 midday

Access to New Quay Promenade/Waterfront City is possible from Footscray Road via Waterfront Way ONLY and traffic controllers will be on location to assist. Pearl River Road and Docklands Drive will be closed between 1:30am-12 midday. Local access across Docklands Drive will be possible via Doepel Way and Waterfront Way only, but only before 07:00am, between races from 09:00am - 09:20am and then after 10:45am. Traffic controllers will be on location to manage access requirements.

Docklands Precinct (Harbour Esplanade) and Victoria Harbour: 1:30am – 2:30pm

Harbour Esplanade, , Batmans Hill Drive and Collins Street will be closed in both directions from as early as 1:30am until as late as 2:30pm. During this time, access to Victoria Harbour and across Harbour Esplanade will be made available via Bourke Street only. Traffic controllers will be on location to manage access requirements.

We thank you for supporting Run for the Kids and the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
