The boundary includes the area designated as Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) and Arlington House, The Robert E. Lee Memorial (Arlington House), and follows the line of the cemetery boundary wall with two exceptions. The first exception is the inclusion of the Arlington Hemicycle, Memorial Avenue, and Arlington Memorial Bridge. These three elements are included in the nomination since they play significant roles in the access and main entrance to the cemetery as well as being part of the overall Beaux Arts planning of the cemetery in the early part of the twentieth century.
