Malar J (2018) 17:284 https://doi.org/10.1186/s12936-018-2440-0 Malaria Journal RESEARCH Open Access Efcacy of artesunate–amodiaquine in the treatment of falciparum uncomplicated malaria in Madagascar Oméga Raobela1†, Valérie Andriantsoanirina1*†, David Gael Rajaonera1, Tovonahary Angelo Rakotomanga1,2, Stéphane Rabearimanana1,2, Fanomezantsoa Ralinoro1,2, Didier Ménard3 and Arsène Ratsimbasoa1,4 Abstract Background: Since 2006, the artemisinin-based combination therapy (ACT) are recommended to treat uncompli- cated malaria including non Plasmodium falciparum malaria in Madagascar. Artesunate–amodiaquine (ASAQ) and artemether–lumefantrine are the frst- and second-line treatment in uncomplicated falciparum malaria, respectively. No clinical drug efcacy study has been published since 2009 to assess the efcacy of these two artemisinin-based combinations in Madagascar, although the incidence of malaria cases has increased from 2010 to 2016. In this con- text, new data about the efcacy of the drug combinations currently used to treat malaria are needed. Methods: Therapeutic efcacy studies evaluating the efcacy of ASAQ were conducted in 2012, 2013 and 2016 among falciparum malaria-infected patients aged between 6 months and 56 years, in health centres in 6 sites repre- senting diferent epidemiological patterns. The 2009 World Health Organization protocol for monitoring anti-malarial drug efcacy was followed. Results: A total of 348 enrolled patients met the inclusion criteria including 108 patients in 2012 (n 64 for Matanga, n 44 for Ampasipotsy), 123 patients in 2013 (n 63 for Ankazomborona, n 60 for Anjoma Ramartina)= and 117 patients= in 2016 (n 67 for Tsaratanana, n 50 for= Antanimbary). The overall= cumulative PCR-corrected day 28 cure rate was 99.70% (95%= IC 98.30–99.95).

MINISTERE DE L’ENVIRONNEMENT, DES FORETS ET DU TOURISME Le présent document est un rapport du Ministère de l’Environnement, des Forêts et du Tourisme (MEFT) sur l’état de de l’évolution de la couverture forestière naturelle à Madagascar entre 1990, 2000, et 2005. Ce rapport a été préparé par Conservation International. These six are restricted to Africa, except for Petchia, which also occurs in Sri Lanka with one endemic species. The study is based on herbarium material and living plants, mostly observed and collected by the author in Madagascar. Petchia replaces the well-known genus name of Cabucala as it has priority, so six new combinations have been made here. Petchia africana from Cameroun has been described as new to science. For Carissa verticillata a new name has been proposed to replace Pichon's homonym, C.pichoniana. In all, 23 names have been reduced to synonymy, 14 of which are even synonymso fPlectaneia thouarsii.

Son premier objectif est la réconciliation des flux financiers entre l’État et les principales industries extractives (compagnies minières et pétrolières amont) à Madagascar pour l’année fiscale 2011. Le rapport reflète également les recommandations préconisées par le Board of Directors international de l’EITI, notamment : ► L’état des dons remis par les entreprises extractives à la collectivité ; ► La mise en exergue des informations concernant les collectivités décentralisées (régions et communes) ; ► L’utilisation des fonds reçus des entreprises extractives par les communes pratiquant le budget participatif ; ► La divulgation de la production exportée au cours de l’année considérée ; ► La contribution fiscale et économique du secteur extractif dans l’économie malgache ; ► L’état des procédures d’octroi de permis en 2011 ; ► L’état de la transparence des titres extractifs disponible dans le domaine public. Etendue et approche La mission du Réconciliateur est régie par la norme internationale ISRS 4400 relative aux « Missions de procédure convenue relatives à des informations financières ». La connaissance des réalités régionales s’avère indispensable à l’élaboration des politiques publiques d’où la nécessité d’élaborer la Monographie des 22 régions. La monographie présente une double fonction d’une part (i) elle donne une vision générale de la région, à travers différentes caractéristiques (condi- tions et potentialités physiques, économiques, aspect social, etc …) et suivant des thèmes privilégiés dans l’étude ; et d’autre part (ii) elle constitue un instrument indispensable aux opérateurs économiques, aux techniciens, aux responsables et décideurs, notamment ceux au niveau des régions aux fins de l’élaboration d’une stratégie harmonieuse de développement. C’est dans ce contexte que le CREAM, de par sa mission relative au renfor- cement des capacités des institutions chargée de la politique économique a élaboré, en collaboration étroite avec la Direction Générale de l’Economie du Ministère de l’Economie et de la Planification, la monographie pour les 22 régions. Ladite monographie a été réalisée dans le respect des exigences scientifiques : la capitalisation des études déjà effectuées ; l’harmonisation des concepts, thèmes et indicateurs pour une possible comparai- son des situations entre les régions ; la collecte des informations qui ne figurent pas dans les annuaires statistiques des services publics, ou qui nécessitent un traitement spécifique ,en amont ; et le traitement des données et analyses de ces dernières.

Its first aim is the reconciliation of cash flows between the State and the main extractive industries (mining and upstream oil companies) in Madagascar for the 2013 fiscal year. The report also reflects the requirements of the EITI standards, including: ► the governance arrangements, tax and regulatory framework applying to extractives industries ; ► an overview of the extractive sector in Madagascar ; ► the contribution of the extractive sector in 2013 in relation to the economy and an overview of the extractive sector's tax contribution to the economy to the total of the tax revenues of the country ; ► the production per product and per company including : 1/ the total production volume and its value 2/ the total volume exported and the value of the export by raw material ; ► the specific information on the companies of the EAE (Entreprises Appartenant à l'Etat) which are State-owned companies, in particular : an explanatory of the rules and common practices ruling the financial relationships between the governement and the State- owned companies ; ► the situation regarding the procedures for granting licences in 2013 ; ► information on the actual property of the extractive companies ► information on the oil contracts ; ► the summary of the donations from extractive companies to the collectivity ; ► information related to the decentralised authorities (regions and municipalities) ; ► the use of the funds received from the extractive companies by the municipalities subject to a participatory budget practice.
