To start off, the first part of 2019 brought in a radical new era in astronomy with the first ever image showing a shadow of a black hole. For CAPjournal #26, part of the team who collaborated on the promotion of this image hs written a piece to show what it took to produce one of the largest astronomy outreach campaigns to date. We also highlight two other large outreach campaigns in this edition. The first is a peer-reviewed article about the 2016 solar eclipse in Indonesia from the founder of the astronomy website lagiselatan, Avivah Yamani. Next, an update on NameExoWorlds, the largest IAU100 campaign, as we wait for the announcement of new names for the ExoWorlds in December. Additionally, this issue touches on opportunities for more inclusive astronomy. We bring you a peer-reviewed article about outreach for inclusion by Dr. Kumiko Usuda-Sato and the speech “Diversity Across Astronomy Can Further Our Research” delivered by award-winning astronomy communicator Dr. -

Read Ebook {PDF EPUB} Katsu! 1 by Mitsuru Adachi Mitsuru Adachi. Mitsuru Adachi ( あだち充 or 安達 充 , Adachi Mitsuru ? ) is a mangaka born February 9, 1951 in Isesaki, Gunma Prefecture, Japan. [1] After graduating from Gunma Prefectural Maebashi Commercial High School in 1969, Adachi worked as an assistant for Isami Ishii. [2] He made his manga debut in 1970 with Kieta Bakuon , based on a manga originally created by Satoru Ozawa. Kieta was published in Deluxe Shōnen Sunday (a manga magazine published by Shogakukan) . Adachi is well known for romantic comedy and sports manga (especially baseball) such as Touch , H2 , Slow Step , and Miyuki . He has been described as a writer of "delightful dialogue", a genius at portraying everyday life, [3] "the greatest pure storyteller", [4] and "a master mangaka". [5] He is one of the few mangaka to write for shōnen, shōjo, and seinen manga magazines, and be popular in all three. His works have been carried in manga magazines such as Weekly Shōnen Sunday , Ciao , Shōjo Comic , Big Comic , and Petit Comic , and most of his works are published through Shogakukan and Gakken. He was one of the flagship authors in the new Monthly Shōnen Sunday magazine which began publication in June 2009. Only two short story collections, Short Program and Short Program 2 (both through Viz Media), have been released in North America. He modelled his use of あだち rather than 安達 after the example of his older brother Tsutomu Adachi. In addition, it has been suggested that the accurate portrayal of sibling rivalry in Touch may come from Adachi's experiences while growing up with his older brother. -

Deaf Blindness
Deaf Blindness I see with my hands and I hear with my body. I feel what you see and I hear through vibrations. -Anonymous What is Deaf-blindness? Deaf-blindess is legally defined as "[having] concomitant hearing and visual impairments, the combination of which causes such severe communication and other developmental and educational needs that they cannot be accommodated in special education programs solely for children with deafness or children with blindness" (IDEA §300.8 ?[c][2]). A person who is deaf-blind is not necessarily completely deaf and/or blind; rather, the degrees to which deaf-blindness and its combination in individuals vary (deafblindinfo. org). While some may be completely deaf and blind, it is more common for individuals to have some degree of residual vision and/or hearing. The condition of deaf-blindness may occur at any stage in life: some may be born deaf and become blind later on in life; others may be born blind and become deaf later; still others might experience a residual loss of both vision and hearing (AADB). Additionally, some deaf-blind individuals may carry additional physical or cognitive disabilities, though this isn't necessarily a given. Depending on the degree of blindness, deaf-blind persons may utilize sign language or tactile sign language for communication; likewise, if there is some degree of hearing, individuals may choose to utilize spoken language for communication . What Causes Deaf-blindness? There are various ways that people become deaf-blind. Some ways include birth trauma, optic nerve atrophy, cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, or diabetic retinopathy. Some may become deaf and blind through birth trauma. -

Brown Copyright by George Andrew Stey 2009 Abstract Certain works of Japanese animation appear to strive to approach reality, showing elements of realism in the visuals as well as the narrative, yet theories of film realism have not often been applied to animation. The goal of this thesis is to systematically isolate the various elements of realism in Japanese animation. This is pursued by focusing on the effect that film produces on the viewer and employing Roland Barthes‟ theory of the reality effect, which gives the viewer the sense of mimicking the surface appearance of the world, and Michel Foucault‟s theory of the truth effect, which is produced when filmic representations agree with the viewer‟s conception of the real world. Three directors‟ works are analyzed using this methodology: Kon Satoshi, Oshii Mamoru, and Miyazaki Hayao. It is argued based on the analysis of these directors‟ works in this study that reality effects arise in the visuals of films, and truth effects emerge from the narratives. Furthermore, the results show detailed settings to be a reality effect common to all the directors, and the portrayal of real-world problems and issues to be a truth effect shared among all. As such, the results suggest that these are common elements of realism found in the art of Japanese animation.
