Launched Officially in June 2013, Bishop Index has been developed by two local businessmen with the sole aim of promoting and revitalising the town of Bishop Auckland.

To test if this was feasible Bishop Index started within the Bondgate and Market Square area. After the resounding success of the project we are now expanding throughout the town at a rapid rate.

Bishop Index is to get local businesses noticed, with the aim to advertise the goods and services each member offers. We also list events that happen within the town, local news and relevant information such as where to park.

Bishop Index has strong search engine optimisation. Nine businesses who have joined, who do not even have a website, are now on the first page of Google. This has been achieved by the way the site has been developed including a microsite, SEO optimisation, Facebook and Twitter links, as well as key words and phrases for each business.

Bishop Auckland has a wealth of specialist businesses that often remain unfounded. Even we the directors have been surprised by the breadth of services businesses offer within the town.

Bishop Auckland has a lot to offer, it has history, a fantastic castle and a lot of hard working individuals running businesses for the benefit of the town. Bishop Index is here to support those efforts in a new way, to help businesses in the high tech world we live in today. A reminder of what we do: • Whether it’s an event at the Castle, Town Hall, or live music • Finding out what shops and businesses have to offer as in what they do and any special offers they may be promoting • Looking up a local shop, pubs, places to eat etc. • Or just the local news Remember, Bishop Index is unique. There are those who have tried to imitate us, but none have the wealth and breadth of features we are able to offer and what we have planned for the future. LOOK UP WWW.BISHOPINDEX.CO.UK If you know of any local business within the town who would like to join Or Have any news or events you would like to promote
