TINENT ON AL C O D W N N A E Lincoln and R Lincoln and N L S C O C FOUNDED L CONFAB U N 1955 CONFAB I B L Continental WESTERN REGION Western Region Lincoln and Continental Owners Club Publication Volume 42 No 7, September, 2013 Presidential 1950 Lincoln Cosmopolitan “Bubbletop” Limousine, the orange Boano Lincoln Indianapolis Coupe which was a 1955 show car, and a specially painted 2013 Lincoln MKZ. Other Lincolns on display were William Clay Ford’s 1956 Continental Mark II convertible, several classic Lincolns from the twenties and thirties, and a 1956 Continental Mark II originally owned by Elizabeth Taylor. Originally the Western Region planned to have a special class as they did in 1995 but that plan was cancelled due to lack of participation. We are not sure how many, if any, Western Region members attended without cars. One Western Region mem- ber, Jim Ayres, did attend and took these photos. More of his photos appear on Lincoln Honored at Pebble Beach 2013 page 4. For the first time since its 75th Anniversary in 1995 Lincoln was one of the honored marques at the 63rd edition Left, of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance “Bubbltop,” the third weekend of August. Below, This year the concours, held Sunday, Anne August 18, honored Lincoln, Simplex, Ford Vanvooren Coachwork, Aston Martin Mark II. Centennial, Lamborghini, Porsche 911, BMW 507, Indianapolis Roadsters and French Motorcycles. Volume 21 Issue 8 Our 20th year August 1, 2021 What could be better than a red 1949 Cosmo Convertible? Why, not much, says Nels Woods, happy owner of this big red beast. My beloved 1949 Lincoln Cosmopolitan convertible has been in my possession for one year now. The story starts, that is, three years prior in 2018. I was a freshman student attending McPherson College for their automotive restoration program. I was 19 at the time and chasing a Welcome to the dream in the field I love, automotive restoration. I felt as if automobiles were more than just a vehicle. Classic cars are history, an essential part of not only American culture but others as well. Northstar News, the My friends and I decided to take a fall trip to the great state of Texas. My grandmother lives in monthly publication of Texas, so I am never opposed to visiting. We arrived and had our fun; then, it was time to visit the Northstar Region grandma. She had mentioned a friend of hers with a classic car collection. I didn't think much of it, but I was curious as to what this collection was. My grandmother drove me over to her friend of the Lincoln and Joseph Hill's house, but his friends knew him as "Mac." It can be good or bad, a life changing experience, or just a memorable event or occasion. It can fix in your memory a series of sights, smells, and associations that linger there forever. Driving is just the function of taking a car from one place to another. Most of the time all of us merely drive, but there are times when we motor memorably. These are some of those stories. I cannot remember a time when cars were not important to me. After AMama@ and ADaddy,@ I am told that some of the first words I learned to say were ABuick@ and ADeSoto,@ cars then driven by two of the members of my family who drove me around a lot. -
