Although the phenomenal 2013 harvest has passed, our winemaking team continues to work hard preparing for the next vintage. In the vineyard, vines are carefully pruned to ensure healthy growth for the new crop, signifying the start of the 2014 grape growing season. While the vines and wines are being tended to, the tasting room team is looking forward to a new year full of events and private tastings. Featured Recipe Strip with Homemade Worcestershire

Worcestershire Sauce is a perfect blend of salty, sweet, spicy, and sour, and lends great to a variety of dishes. It’s surprisingly easy to make at home and takes only 10 minutes to prepare! The great thing about making your own is that you can adjust the salty, spicy, sour, or sweet to your tastes.

Ingredients • 4 New York strip (12-to-14-ounces), trimmed of excess fat • 4 teaspoons • ½ cup homemade Worcestershire sauce • Coarse and freshly ground black pepper

Preparation Preheat oven to 450 degrees, while preheating a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Rub ½ teaspoon olive oil on each side of the steaks then season with . Place steaks on hot grill pan and cook for 2 minutes, then turn each steak one-quarter turn to create grill marks, and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Flip steaks and continue cooking for 4 minutes for medium-rare. Transfer steaks to a large baking sheet and into oven; roast until an instant-read thermometer reaches 140 degrees, about 4 to 6 minutes for medium- rare. Place each steak on a serving plate and drizzle with two tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce. Serve immediately with side of fresh veggies, blue mashed potatoes, and a glass of 2011 Vintner’s Blend.

Worcestershire Sauce Ingredients

With miles of beautiful coastline and the Russian River Valley, warm days and cool, foggy nights produce the perfect balance of fruit, tannin, and acidity. Malbec gives the wine a deep color and hints of blackberry, while the Petit Verdot adds tannin and texture. Zinfandel offers up bright fruit while Merlot provides backbone and structure to the wine.
