Reem Al Hashimy Director General of Expo 2020 Dubai and UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation In February 2016, Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy was sworn in as Minister of State for Inter- national Cooperation, in the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Ad- ditionally, she holds responsibility within the Cabinet, for the UAE’s bilateral relations with Sub Saharan African countries and the Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Since her first ministerial appointment in February 2008, Her Excellency has and continues to manage, the Vice President’s Office for Political Affairs, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. In November 2013, as Managing Director of Dubai’s World Expo 2020 bid, Reem oversaw a histor- ic success at the Bureau International des Expositions. Dubai Expo 2020 will be the first held in the MEASA (Middle East, Africa and South Asia region). Her Excellency holds the position of Managing Director of the Dubai Expo 2020 Higher Committee as well as Director General of the Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau, in preparation for the upcoming national milestone. Since its launch in 2007 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Her Excellen- cy has served as Chairperson of Dubai Cares, a philanthropic organisation with the aim of improv- ing access to quality education in developing countries. Her Excellency was formerly Chairperson of the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority, which drives the UAE’s global competitiveness across many sectors. Her Excellency completed her undergraduate degree at Tufts University, earning a BA in Interna- tional Relations and French, followed by an MA from Harvard University. Prior to her current posi- tion as Minister of State, Her Excellency served as Commercial Attaché, and subsequently Deputy Chief, of the UAE Embassy to the United States of America, in Washington DC. Helmut von Struve Helmut von Struve was named the CEO of Siemens in the Middle East and the UAE in May 2020, after spending almost 20 years with the company in Chief Executive Officer, leadership roles in Germany, the UAE, Libya and Pakistan. Lo stesso accade nel Vangelo: prima di moltiplicare i pani, Gesù li benedice: «Prese i cinque pani, alzò gli occhi al cielo, recitò su di essi la benedizione, li spezzò e li dava ai discepoli». La benedizione fa di cinque pani il cibo per una moltitudine: fa sgorgare una cascata di bene. Perché benedire fa bene? Perché è trasformare la parola in dono. Quando si benedice, non si fa qualcosa per sé, ma per gli altri. Benedire non è dire belle parole, non è usare parole di circostanza: no; è dire bene, dire con amore. Così ha fatto Melchisedek, dicendo spontaneamente bene di Abramo, senza che questi avesse detto o fatto qualcosa per lui. Così ha fatto Gesù, mostrando il significato della benedizione con la distribuzione gratuita dei pani. Quante volte anche noi siamo stati benedetti, in chiesa o nelle nostre case, quante volte abbiamo ricevuto parole che ci hanno fatto bene, o un segno di croce sulla fronte… Siamo diventati benedetti il giorno del Battesimo, e alla fine di ogni Messa veniamo benedetti.

    Communiqué from the Urban 20 (U20) October 2, 2020, Riyadh We, the Mayors of the undersigned cities, underscoring the interconnectedness of the world and our shared future, have gathered as the Urban 20 (U20) to call on the G20 Leaders to commit to our partnership in achieving equitable, carbon-neutral, inclusive and healthy societies. Under the U20 Riyadh’s chairmanship, U20 cities built on the strong foundation of the U20 Buenos Aires and Tokyo legacies to issue this Communiqué linking to the G20 priorities under the Saudi presidency, and with contributions from evidence-based task forces and a special working group on COVID-19. The COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing social and economic crisis make this call even more urgent as cities and metropolitan areas, that lie at the heart of the G20’s vitality, are the epicenter of the crisis. Mayors, the principal champions of our communities’ aspirations, are on the frontline to deliver on COVID-19 recovery action plans across the G20, backed by scientific knowledge, inclusively building on technological and digital breakthroughs, while acknowledging humanity’s cultural and ethnic diversity. The recovery should not be a return to business as usual. The announcement comes after a coali- tion raid on a rebel post in Khokha, south of the main Red Sea port of Hodeida, killed 15 rebels and wounded 20 on Wednesday, according to military sources allied with the coalition. A second Emirati soldier died of a heart attack, WAM said. Some 80 Emirati soldiers have been killed since the coalition launched its intervention in support of President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi in March 2015. More than 7,400 people have been killed since the intervention began, including around 1,400 children, according to World Health Organization figures. Despite the coalition’s superior firepower, the rebels and their allies still control the capital Sanaa and much of the northern and central highlands as well as the port of Hodeida. Meanwhile, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah sent a cable of condolences yesterday to the President of United Arab of Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.
