The CHERRY FAMILIES Of EARLY NORFOLK Co VA 101 George M Bristow [C2d2a2m], son of Sarah Cherry and Wesley Owen Bristow, was born 13 February 1855 in Macon Co MO. He was a physician in 1880 and lived with his sister Nancy at Independence, Macon Co MO. George died at Princeton, Mercer Co MO on 30 October 1943. He married Jessie Frances Trapp on 30 December 1886. She was born 17 July 1864 at Princeton, daughter of Jesse Trapp and Anna Haur, and died there on 21 June 1934. Her son Arthur was the informant for her death certificate. Jessie and George were buried at Princeton. They had two sons- 1. Harry G Bristow, b 17 Oct 1887 at Princeton, Mercer Co MO. In June 1917 he was an assistant professor of chemistry at Saint Louis University, Saint Louis MO in the pre- 1930 years, but was a medical doctor in 1930. He married Grace Harbols on 30 November 1911. She was born in 1888 in IA, and died in 1977. Harriy died in 1946. They were buried in Princeton Cemetery in Mercer Co. They had three children- a. Arthur H Bristow, b 1914 (125wf) b. Donald L Bristow, b 1915 (125wf) c. Marilyn R Bristow, b Oct 1919 (125wf) (W,M,166uvc,125wf) 2. Arthur Shaw Bristow, b 16 Mar 1892 at Princeton, Mercer Co MO. In 1917 he was an intern at CM & St Paul & Penn Hospital at Chicago. Durind WWI he was a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army Medical Corp. In 1920 they were at Morgan, Mercer Co, then at Princeton in 1930. He was a surgeon. Arthur married Helen Marguerite _____ in 1918. She was born in KS in 1894, and died in 1983. Arthur died in 1959. They were buried together in Princeton Cemetery in Mercer Co. They had two children by 1930- a. Robert B Bristow, b Sep 1918 in VA. (166wf) b. Benjamin Bristow, b 1924 (166f) (W,M,166uvfc) (W,140qrs,166uvdc) Henry Lafayette Bristow [C2d2d5e], son of Sarah Bradshaw Cherry and Henry Gabbert Bristow, was born 28 February 1869 at Warsaw, Hancock Co IL. He married Mary Virginia Safford in Hancock Co on 8 June 1892. She was born at Hamilton, Hancock Co on 26 November 1869, daughter of George Benjamin Safford (1843-1881) and Penelope Pope Gray (1844-1878). Henry was a railroad clerk in 1900 and a salesman in 1910. He died 30 January 1933 at Webster Groves, St Louis Co MO. He was buried in Valhalla Cemetery. Mary died 1 March 1961 at Little Rock, AR. They had three children by 1910 and lived at Saint Louis, MO- 1. child Bristow, b & d 1900s at Saint Louis, MO. (166v) 2. Margaret Marion Bristow, b 5 Nov 1905 at Saint Louis, MO, died 11 April 1975 at Little Rock, AR. She married Lingurn Skidmore "Lin" Burkhead. He was born 9 November 1893 at Whiteville, Columbus Co NC, son of William Grey Burkehead (1861 NC). He was a clerk for Missouri Pacific Railroad and lived at Saint Louis, MO in 1917. He and Margaret lived at Little Rock, AR in 1942 and he still worked for MoPac Railroad. Lin died at Little Rock in April 1974. (W,Z,M,NCb,125v) 3. Dorothy Virginia Bristow, b 24 Jan 1908 at Saint Louis, MO, died 18 November 2000 at Redmond, WA. She married Weldon Albert Stein. He was born 219 November 1911 at Cape Girardeau, MO, son of Arthur Christian Stein (1884-1958) and May Sheppard (1886-1975), and died 14 March 1964 at Washington, DC. They had a daughter. (W,125v) (W,61rsm, 166v,170d) 102 And NORTHEAST NORTH CAROLINA Henry T Bristow [C2d2a2k], son of Sarah Cherry and Wesley Owen Bristow, was born 13 September 1852 in Macon Co MO, and died on 18 September 1941 at Bellfountain, Benton Co OR. He married Joysey E Laird on 16 May 1885. She was born in OR in April 1860, and died in Benton Co on 15 June 1940. They were buruied in Bellfountain Cemetery. They lived at Bellfountain in 1930 and had five children, all in OR- 1. Gretta E Bristow, b 14 Sep 1886. She married in Benton Co OR on 4 May 1912. (259uvm) 2. Floyd Owen Bristow, b 13 Nov 1888 at Pleasant Hill, Lane Co. In 1917 he lived at Monroe, Benton Co, and was single. He died in Lane Co on 24 June 1928. (M,259uvw) 3. Hazel Dell Bristow, b 26 Mar 1894. She married Ralph Dennis Monroe in 1914 and lived with her parents in 1920. Ralph was born at Abilene, KS on 4 September 1881, son of Jordan M Monroe (1859 PA) and Ida Jane _____ (1862 PA). Ralph was a stock raiser in 1920, but was an apartment manager at Portland in 1930. He worked for the school district in 1942 at Portland. In 1918 he lived at Houlton, Columbia Co OR. They had no children by 1930. Ralph died at Portland on 8 September 1950. Hazel died there on 25 April 1980 and was buried in Lincoln Memorial Park at Portland. (M,ODd,262uvw,259uvw,261fc) 4. Dorothy Ruth Bristow, b 4 Jul 1899, died 14 June 1983 and was buried in Bellfountain Cemetery. (259uvwfc) 5. Malcom Bristow, b 1906, died 30 June 1907. His parents were buried next to him in Bellfountain Cemetery when they died years later. (259c) (W,ORd,140rq,259uvwfc) Isaac V Milton Bristow [C2d2d9], son of Polly Cherry and James Patterson Bristow, was born 14 February 1832, and died 14 May 1892. He married Martha Susan R Morrison in Macoupin Co IL on 20 September 1854 and about 1858 moved to Polk Co MO. From birth places of their children, they moved back and forth between MO and MO in the 1860s. They lived at Johnson, Polk Co MO in 1870. Martha was born in OH on 31 May 1835. Isaac served in the 28th Regiment, Illinois Infantry during the Civil War. He enlisted on 3 Janu- ary 1862, but was released from duty just five days later. He enlisted again on 28 September 1864, was assigned to Company H, Illinois 122nd Infantry Regiment, and was mustered out on 19 September 1965. In 1880 they lived in St Clair Co MO. Jessie L Bristow, b 1878 (W,M, 60knmb,231r,172s) James Jasper Bristow [C2d2a2f], son of Sarah Cherry and Wesley Owen Bristow, was born 11 November 1842 in Macon Co MO, and died on 11 April 1909. He married Mary E McQuarrie on 18 December 1864. She was born in MO in 1847. They moved to Pleasant Hill, Lane Co OR in the late 1870s. They had four children- 1. Kate C Bristow, b 23 Sep 1865 in MO, died 29 November 1919. She married Claude Warren at Amity, OR on 26 March 1889, and married Robert Edgar Bristow on 7 April The CHERRY FAMILIES Of EARLY NORFOLK Co VA 103 1904. In 1910 she and Robert lived at Portland, OR. Robert was born in Lane Co OR in 1863, son of Dr John Kennedy Bristow (1814 Overton Co TN) and Mary A Conger (1824 IN). This was also Robert’s second marriage. Kate had three children in OR- a. Hubert S Warren, b 1890 (261v) b. Harold E Warren, b 1891 (261v) c. Kathleene R Bristow, b 1908 (261v) Robert Edgar Bristow’s daughter from his first marriage was Clair Bristow, born in 1891 in OR. (263r,163s, 261v) 2. Sadie Bristow, b 22 Sep 1867 at Taylor, Shelby Co MO. (263r, 163s) 3. Ora Bristow, b 1873 in MO. (163s) 4. Otis C Bristow, b 8 Jun 1878 in Lane Co OR. (163s) (W,140nq, 263r,163s) James O Bristow [C2d2d9c], son of Isaac V Milton Bristow and Martha Susan R Morrison, was born 17 November 1859 in MO, and died on 29 September 1935 in OR. He was buried in Laurel Grove Cemetery at Springfield, Lane Co OR. He married Sarah Malissa "Mallie" Ebert about 1885, and in 1887 they lived in Whitman Co WA. Mallie was born at Springfield, Lane Co OR on 8 March 1863, daughter of George W Ebert (1829 PA) and Elizabeth Landes (1840 IA), and died 5 January 1944 at Ashland, Jackson Co OR. She was bur- ied with James. They lived at Wolf Creek, Josephine Co OR in 1900 where he was a blacksmith, then in Lane Co OR in 1910 where he was as truck farmer. They remained in Lane Co into the 1930s. They had three daughters- 1. Helen Ina Bristow, b abt 1887, died about 1893 at Palouse, Whit- man Co WA, age 6. She came home from school one day, layed down on the sofa, and died. No one knew why. She was known by later generations of this family by her middle name, but the 1889 WA state census for Whitman Co showed 2 year old daughter "Helen I Bristow" with her par- ents. (W,K, WAs, 258u, 163v) 2. Alta Bell Bristow, b 8 Apr 1893 at Palouise, WA. She married James Randle in 1923 and lived at Eugene, OR in 1944. She died at Portland, OR on 9 January 1974. James was born at Fort Bidwell, CA on 29 August 1888, 104 And NORTHEAST NORTH CAROLINA son of James Newman Randle and Henrietta Louise Kirchner, and died at Portland on 9 February 1969.
