  • Tyrrell 010/2 Description AB
! 1980 Tyrrell 010 Chassis No: 010/2 • A competitive and useable ground effect entry to the flourishing FIA Historic Formula One Championship, with a sister 010 taking eight wins so far this season. • Historian Allen Brown has confirmed that this car was the replacement 010/2 for Daly at the US GP in 1980. Driven in 1981 by Ricardo Zunino and Eddie Cheever, with a 4th place at the British Grand Prix for Cheever, before being sold by Tyrrell as a complete entity to Roy Lane. • HSCC Historic Formula 1 Champion with Richard Peacock in 1989. • In the current ownership for the last 20 years, with minimal use. The Tyrrell Racing Organisation is a name that rings out with some of the all time Formula 1 greats, with three Formula 1 World Championships and one Constructors Championship to its name. It’s founder, Ken Tyrrell first came into racing in 1958 when he ran three Formula 3 cars for himself and a couple of local stars. Ken soon realised that he was not destined to be a racing driver and stood down from driving duties in 1959, instead to focus on running a Formula Junior team from a woodshed owned by his family business, Tyrrell Brothers. Tyrrell ran a variety of cars in the lower formulas through the 1960s, giving drivers like John Surtees, Jacky Ickx and most notably Jackie Stewart their single seater debuts. In 1968, Tyrrell’s involvement with Matra in Formula 2 was stepped up to the main stage of Formula 1, where Ken ran Matra International, a joint venture between Tyrrell and Matra.

  • Founded in the Year Nineteen Twenty-Four March 1980
March 1980 MOTOR SPORT Founded in the year nineteen twenty-four offices would be possible is something to be discussed. The point is that two-tier control of motoring sport is vital and should take place quickly. Note that there is no suggestion whatsoever that the RAC, which controls British motoring sport with the approval of the Government, should be overthrown; only that it must be restrained from exploiting, knowingly or inadvertently, those Clubs and their hundreds of members which can less-well than the Big Battalions afford to pay ever- increasing permit and licensing fees. That the situation, in a world of galloping inflation and rising petrol costs, has become desperate, is evident when you realise that the Motor Cycling Club, the oldest sporting Motor Club in this country, which continues to organise its classic long-distance trials dating back to 1908, had to pay more in Ministry-of-Transport Authorisation-Fees to run last year’s Land’s End Trial than the RAC did to hold the sponsored International RAC Rally — something to do with the MCC having more entrants who cover a bigger mileage. It is understandable that the Forestry Commission has to charge for the alleged wear-and-tear that the MATTERS OF MOMENT passage of fast-moving rally cars cause to its forest tracks and for spectator protection (ropes and whistles), ■ EXPLOITATION IS A DIRTY WORD! but it is not clear to us why a Government Department should charge the MCC for competitions which use “Man’s rich with little, were his judgement true; public roads, with every competitor paying his or her Nature is frugal, and her wants are few; These few normal road-licence duty.

  • STATEMENT of PURPOSE the Purpose of the Historic Motor Sports
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE The purpose of the Historic Motor Sports Association is to encourage the restoration, preservation and use of historic, sports and racing cars. Our events and races are for fun with nothing to be won. Satisfaction and camaraderie among friends is the reward. Our serious interest is in the cars. We want to see old cars with racing history RESTORED. Today many believe the term restore means, "...to make new". Webster says, "restore... to bring back to a former condition. We accept the latter. The enjoyment for us is in driving and experiencing the cars as they were. To support that we arrange our race groups by age and their engine size. Modern technology can make vast improvements in performance possible but that is not our desire and our rules are written with the intent to prevent such modification. We want the cars to be as they were not what they could have been. Restoration, Preservation and Use. Our events are not intended to offer individuals a "career option". There are other professional organizations which would be a better choice. HMSA is for the less driven (excuse the pun). Driving well is important, winning is not. Safety is very important and driving is a major contribution. Racing at any level can be dangerous. We, therefore, have rules and regulations which we hope will be helpful in making your participation both enjoyable and safe. As an overview, we divide safety into two categories: Car and Driver. An old car cannot be made as safe as a modern car. A McLaren with a monocoque tub is definitely safer in a crash than an M.G., Ferrari or Bugatti.
