PRINCIPAL BUSINESS TRAVEL FRANKFURT BUSINESS TRAVEL CITY GUIDE OVERVIEW Frankfurt is the business and financial centre of Germany. It is also Germany’s largest city in the state of Hessen. The City is known for its futuristic skyline. Frankfurt Main Airport (FRA) is the busiest airport in Germany. Frankfurt is home to the European Central Bank and the German Stock Exchange. Frankfurt is the 5th largest city in Germany. FRANKFURT BUSINESS TRAVEL CITY GUIDE PRINCIPAL BUSINESS TRAVEL MAIN AIRPORTS Frankfurt has Two Airports. 1. Frankfurt am Main Airport (FRA) is the main airport in Frankfurt This airport is the major international Airport located 22km South West of the City Centre. Journey times by taxi/car to and from the city centre are around 20-25min. The long-distance train station connects the airport with all of Germany and other European countries. And with local public transport you can get to the airport quickly and easily from the Rhine-Main area. When arriving at Frankfurt Airport, tell the taxi driver the name of your airline. You will then be taken to the right terminal and dropped off at the curb as close as possible to your check-in counter. The trip from Frankfurt city centre to the airport (and vice versa) takes between 20 and 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Large-capacity taxis for up to seven persons are also available in the Frankfurt area. Costs are around €35.00 each way. Uber also operates in and around Frankfurt. 2. Frankfurt Hahn Airport (HHN) Frankfurt-Hahn Airport is situated in the west of Germany between the cities of Frankfurt am Main and Luxembourg City. This airport is mainly used by low-cost carriers such as Ryanair and Wizz Air. Frankfurt Hahn Airport is located west of Frankfurt and Northeast of Luxemburg City. This airport has only one terminal with minimal shops. This airport is located 125km approximately 1H30 from Frankfurt City Centre. There are no rail connections at this airport, however there is a good bus service to and from Frankfurt City, but the journey time can be almost 2 hours including stops! The distance between the airport and the city of Frankfurt is quite a way therefore a taxi ride to Frankfurt am Main is quite expensive. The price is about € 175, and a journey can take up to 1 hour and 30 minutes. Main Tower is one of the highest buildings in Frankfurt. You can climb to the top of this 200-metre building (or take the lift up the first 190 metres and walk the last 10) for incomparable views of the city.
