Dr.A.Elangovan., Co-Ordinator., Community College, Periyar University, Salem inaugurated the Muthayammal community college in our premises on 16.07.2012. Induction programme was organized for Community College students on 19.12.2012. About 150 students participated in the event. Dr.A.Elangovan., Co-Ordinator - Community College, Periyar University, Salem had been the Chief Guest Tailoring Class Room & Lab at MCAS Tailoring Class conducted for KKP Spinning Mill’ women worker at Namakkal Muthayammal Community College established its extension unit in 2014 at KKP Spinning Mill campus, Namakkal. It facilitates the women-employees of the spinning mill to acquire basic skills of computer and tailoring courses. Computer Class Room & Lab at MCAS A separate computer laboratory has been provided to the Community College students with internet facility. NVDA (Non visual Desktop Access) software has been installed; It facilitates to learn basic computer operations the Visually Impaired. Computer Class conducted for Saranya & KKP Spinning Mill’ women worker at Namakkal Muthayammal Community College established its extension unit at Saranya Spinning Mill campus, Namakkal in 2015. Women-employees of the mill have been facilitated to acquire some elementary skills in computer operation. Art of Cooking (Catering) Pudhu Vaazhvu Project, Namakkal offered training to the rural community to learn the art of Cooking which might help them to start a hotel on a small scale. Catering skills had also been offered to the women- employees of the Spinning Mill. Catering and Computer training valedictory function held at Saranya Spinning Mill, Namakkal. Emayavaramban1 Associate Professor, Department of Geography, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India.1 ABSTRACT: The main objective of this study is to identify an appropriate land suitable for cultivation in a scientific land evaluation manner. This kind of analysis gives a proper idea for the farmers to do the land management practices and helps to increase land productivity. A GIS based multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) is used to achieve this objective to assess the suitable area for the cultivation of crops. Overlay analysis has generally taken the form of weighted overlay depending on our perspective. The main objective of weighted overlay is to calculate a new set of values for the complete coverage based on a combination of input values. This operation processes the complete data sets, so boundaries from all inputs layers will be retained. The study area taken for this study is Rasipuram block of Namakkal District. The District lies in the interior part of Tamil Nadu. The layer used in decision making system is soil parameters such as texture, production potential and climatic parameters such as rainfall, physical parameters such as drainage density, slope and geomorphology. All these layers are ranked properly based on the expert advice and literature then suitable weights are assigned to do the overlay analysis method to delineate suitability classes.
