BRUCE DICKINSON "FREAK ZONE": Sinclair Stirs in 28 SEPTEMBER 2003 Deepest Kent The day prior to the official release of the "Unauthorised Breakfast Item" saw Caravan being interviewed on Bruce Dickinson’s BBC Radio 6 programme. Pye and Geoffrey, accompanied by Mark Powell spent an hour on the programme talking about the new album and forthcoming tour. As a precursor to the interview, "Winter Wine" was played which contrasted dramatically to the new tracks which were to be played. The interview was highly entertaining: both Geoffrey and Pye talked amusingly about the background to the title of the new album, with Pye "naming and shaming" the two band members who had "gone and done a run". Bruce Dickinson was very interested in Caravan’s "new guitarist", which I hope selfishly for our sakes does not result in a future call from Iron Maiden. Tracks played from the new album were: It was good to meet a reinvigorated Smoking Gun, Breakfast Item, Wild Dave Sinclair, once again full of West Street and Revenge. optimism and ambition. ProGGnosis - CD/DVD/Album Release Information Page CD/DVD Release Info Page Comments & Feedback - email: Link directly to this page: http://www.proGGnosis.com/MUSIC_DBCDInfo.asp?txtCDID=17142 35th Anniversary Concert by: Caravan Year: 2005 This is a Limted Edition 2-DVD Set available November 15, 2005 through Music Video Distributors. The folowing are their comments: The house was packed to the rafters and the mood inside was jubilant at London’s Bloomsbury Theatre, when - on the night of June 30th 2003 - Caravan took to the stage to commemorate an astonishing career spanning 35 glorious years. This package captures that performance in its entirety on a 2 DVD collection, which includes both the electric and acoustic sets performed on that truly inspired evening. Pye Hastings, Richard Coughlan, Geoffrey Richardson, Jan Schelhaas, Doug Boyle and Jim Leverton - joined for a few numbers by occasional band member and brother of Pye, Jimmy Hastings - delighted the audience with a set lasting over two hours and comprising of exquisitely performed material from Caravan’s extraordinary and extensive body of work. With extra features including; the legendary 1973 promotional performance of The Dog, The Dog, He’s At It Again, shown at the time on the BBC’s Old Grey Whistle Test, but completely unseen since; and a series of recent interviews with all the band members - recorded exclusively for inclusion in this package - where they discuss their complete career to date and suggest what may be the future of the band, this set is the ultimate Caravan artifact, capturing the true spirit - established over four decades - of this very special group.

Where but for Caravan Would I? W WITH NTERVIE I lhaas Jan Sche Newsletter Issue No.12 November 2000 FOREWORD As I sit writing this introduction to ʻWhere But For...?ʼ Number 12, I am surrounded by evidence of a band in resurgence. First there was the Canterbury Music Festival held on a glorious sunny Sunday in July: a day to cherish - especially that performance by the legendary Arthur Brown. Caravan had all the fates against them: a horrendously delayed start due to the other bands overrunning, gremlins in the sound system, water dropping down on Dave Sinclairʼs keyboard and a set curtailed due to the delayed start of the set. Still 2,000 festival goers were united in their admiration of a day ʻwell doneʼ and their joy at seeing Caravan up there playing and going for it against all the odds. On a personal note I would like to thank all those involved - I donʼt know many of them, but Mark Powell (freelance journalist), Glenn Povey (promoter) were two notables. In addition Pye Hastings and his wife Cathyʼs firm of solicitors put up some of the money - a real financial risk for them which fortunately turned out to be fine. On top of that we have the excellent release, the Anthology ʻWhere But For Caravan Would I?ʼ on Universal with its different versions and the unreleased gem, ʻA Day in the Life of Maurice Haylettʼ Classic Rock Magazine (an excellent publication by the way) was particularly exuberant in its praise of the album, but even the normally lukewarm ʻQʼ Magazine described it as ʻjust the jobʼ and gave it four stars.
