The folowing are their comments: The house was packed to the rafters and the mood inside was jubilant at London’s Bloomsbury Theatre, when - on the night of June 30th 2003 - Caravan took to the stage to commemorate an astonishing career spanning 35 glorious years. This package captures that performance in its entirety on a 2 DVD collection, which includes both the electric and acoustic sets performed on that truly inspired evening. Pye Hastings, Richard Coughlan, Geoffrey Richardson, Jan Schelhaas, Doug Boyle and Jim Leverton - joined for a few numbers by occasional band member and brother of Pye, Jimmy Hastings - delighted the audience with a set lasting over two hours and comprising of exquisitely performed material from Caravan’s extraordinary and extensive body of work. With extra features including; the legendary 1973 promotional performance of The Dog, The Dog, He’s At It Again, shown at the time on the BBC’s Old Grey Whistle Test, but completely unseen since; and a series of recent interviews with all the band members - recorded exclusively for inclusion in this package - where they discuss their complete career to date and suggest what may be the future of the band, this set is the ultimate Caravan artifact, capturing the true spirit - established over four decades - of this very special group. Well yes... cause The 35th Anniversary Concert has a lot to offer to the Caravan fan even if, like me, you own both DVDs. Sure you will find the obvious "For Richard", "A Hunting we Shall Go"... and loads of other Caravan classics. But on The 35th Anniversary Concert you also get a number of tracks not found on the previous, such as "Golf Girl", the recent "Smoking Gun" and "The Unauthorised Breakfast Item" and quite a few others. The concert is very well filmed, with no frills, and the band is in top form. Also included, on a second DVD, is an acoustic set that makes me wish that Caravan would choose that form for a future album, a 1973 version of The Dog, The Dog, He's at It Again" and finally a very interesting interview with band members. The 35th Anniversary Concert is a must have for any Caravan fan. A great band, a great show... makes for a great DVD. My highest recommendation. http://www.proggnosis.com/MUSIC_DBCDInfoPF.asp?txtCDID=17142 (2 of 2)12/22/2005 12:06:18 PM.
