Mission Statement

ahwah, derived from the Lenni Lenape mawewi, is a place where people and paths meet. Ramapo Ridge Middle School and Mahwah High School are the “meeting place” where various neighborhoods converge as one community. We will ensure that rigorous and relevant curricula Mwill pave the way for challenging and diverse opportunities for all students. Small learning communities will be the vehicle through which we pursue our mission by focusing on strong relationships, learning preferences, performance levels, and interests. Students, staff, parents, and community members will remain dedicated to supporting one another in achieving these essential goals.

The Thunderbird Scholarship Fund

The Thunderbird Scholarship Fund annually awards scholarships to graduating Mahwah High School applicants. These awards are privately funded by gifts and contributions, independent of the Mahwah Board of Education.

Any Mahwah High School senior who is pursuing a full program in an accredited institution above the secondary level, (and is not accepting a scholarship or grant package exceeding two- thirds of the student’s annual tuition), shall be eligible for scholarship awards.

The Mahwah High School Thunderbird Sports Booster Club will be awarding fifteen scholarships for the Class of 2020. Applicants must have participated in Mahwah High School’s athletic program during their senior year and must also fulfill the above requirements.

Students listed in the Senior Award and Scholarship Recipient section of the program received a senior award on June 9, 2020 at our Senior Awards and Scholarship Ceremony and/or have provided written documentation, as requested, to our Guidance Department verifying merit- based scholarship offers.
