Editor’s Note

Welcome to the third edition of the convention magazine after Igbere Progressive Association International (IPAI) upgraded from program brochure to a biennial magazine. The aim is to expand our global reach by providing opportunity for Igbere people across the world to express their ideas, share their knowledge and expertise and support the develop- ment of Igbere Community. We solicited from the general public to support the 2013 IPAI Convention by plac- ing an Ad on this event program magazine. Thanks to the generosity of our members and friends who responded to the solicitation to support IPAI in this way. To those who could not respond, we believe you would have better reasons to do so in subsequent editions. However, we pray that God would provide for those who wanted to place an Ad but could not do so due to financial reasons, and at the same time bless and multiply the financial re- sources of those who made this extraordinary sacrifice to donate to IPAI in this way. Your donation is highly appreciated. This edition contains vital resources, and information that promotes businesses, special events, introduces families, showcases personal and group profile. It contains articles and a platform to connect with Igbere people across the world. It is the widest print publication relating to Igbere event across the world. Relax and enjoy the articles, and pictures and patronize the businesses listed on therein. More importantly, Support IPAI and Igbere Community now and forever. Let us all strive to make Igbere Community better!

As It Has Been, Not Just Started By Us By Chief Michael C. K. Awa, Chairman IPAI Board of Directors Mrs. Ezinne What goes around comes around so goes the saying, The Igbere Progressive Association International, Inc. (PAI) Uzoaru Maduka constitutional appointed time for the general assembly for Igbereans in Diaspora to come together to discuss matters affecting them, socialize and solicit fund from friends in order to continue to fulfill part of the objectives annunciated in the IPAI constitution. This part stems from that good heritage handed down to us from our forefathers that encourages com- munal living without sacrificing competition that rewards success. We are taught to be our brothers’ keeper and help those in need in time of their low lives. This is why in our traditional setting at home after the full phase of harvest from farms is completed whatever that is left behind can be har- vested by those in need without being charged for theft. This helps to provide food for the needy and reduce societal mis- creants. This act of love was part of the corner stone that brought Igbere people in Diaspora together in 2005 in no oth- er place than Houston, Texas, that is hosting this event again in 2013. May I use this opportunity to thank and welcome those who are on return mission to Houston and also the first timers for this noble cause of brotherhood to remain steadfast and committed to the aspiration of IPAI. For our friends who have honored our invitations to be here with us may you re- ceive the returns of this kind gesture double fold and as you make your donations, may our good LORD bless and keep you. On our part IPAI will endeavor to use the raised finan- cial resource to continue to assist the community health cen- ters in Igbere in providing supplemental medicine, physical examination and health information dissemination for the less privilege in that community who could easily die of easily preventable or treatable diseases or illness. Are you still sitting on the fence or acting as if the door is shut against you from joining IPAI, please stop and come forth and join your brothers and sisters to build IPAI unconditionally but in accordance with the IPAI constitution. Membership is open anyone that wills and desires to be part of thus noble organization. IPAI needs your talent, presence and knowledge to continue to grow from strength to strength. In the words of Karl Marx “every onlooker is either a coward or a traitor”. Come let’s discuss the matter that is of im- portance to us in kind and in love so that our lives will contin- ue to grow. As Martin Luther King Jr. said “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter”. May we all redirect our energy to things that are important to us and that will benefit the future generation. On behalf of my beautiful and committed wife, Chin- yere N.
