Management and Organisation of the Competition 1.1. The Eurocup will be governed, managed, administered and developed by Euroleague Properties S.A. or any of its relevant permitted successors or assignees (hereinafter “EP”). 1.2. Euroleague Properties S.A. has designated the company Euroleague Entertainment & Services, S.L.U. (hereinafter the “Company”) as the body responsible for the management and administrative organisation of the Eurocup competition. 1.3. The Chief Executive Officer of the Company (hereinafter “Euroleague Basketball CEO”) will be the executive responsible for governing, managing and administering the Eurocup competition, for adopting the necessary regulations, agreements and resolutions for the smooth running of the competition, and for the delegating where deemed necessary in accordance with the organisation chart of the Company. 1.4. The clubs must adhere to these Regulations and any future modifications, amendments and derogations thereto, as well as to other applicable resolutions. 1.5. The Company will set up an office, the “Euroleague Basketball office”, which will be the unit of operation and administrative assistance for the undertaking of the objectives of the Eurocup. It is understood that all administrative procedures the participating clubs have in relation to their participation in the competition, will be carried out with the Company. Article 2. Official Season The official basketball season will start on 1 July and will end on 30 June of the following year. 9 Article 3. Clubs in the Competition: Selection and Substitution Criteria 3.1. The places in the Eurocup for the 2014-2015 season will be allocated following the chart of Appendix I to these Regulations, once the places in the Euroleague Regular Season and Euroleague Qualifying Rounds have been assigned. 3.2. 36 clubs will play the Eurocup. Seven of these clubs will be those that could not obtain the Euroleague spot available through the Euroleague Qualifying Rounds. 3.3. The clubs will be selected according to the final standings of the Domestic Championship in the previous season after the playoffs. Therefore, the best ranked clubs will have the right to participate. The clubs from countries participating in the ABA League will be selected for the Eurocup according to the final standings of the ABA League. The champion and the runner-up of the third European competition (EuroChallenge) from the previous season will participate in the Eurocup Regular Season, provided that they fulfil the requirements established in these Regulations and any subsequent modifications thereto. If either club also qualifies for the Eurocup Regular Season through their Domestic Championship, their vacancy will become a wild card. 3.4. If a club holding the right to participate in the Eurocup in accordance with what is set forth in Articles 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 renounces its participation in the competition, it will lose any future right to participate in the Euroleague the following four seasons. It will also lose any future right to participate in the Eurocup the following four seasons if the Company verifies that during that same season the club participates in any league competition outside its country in addition to the Domestic Championship. Without prejudice to the above, in the event that during the suspension period this club fulfils the requirements for participating, the Company may analyse the circumstances and establish the conditions to revoke the suspension period. 3.5. This paper observed 38 games and sixteen variables of standard efficiency during the FIBA EuroBasket Women 2019. Two regression models were obtained, a set of relative percentage and relative rating variables, which are used in the NBA league, where the dependent variable was the number of points scored. The obtained results show that in the first model, the difference between winning and losing teams was made by three variables: true shooting percentage, turnover percentage of inefficiency and efficiency percentage of defensive rebounds, which explain 97.3%, while for the second model, the distinguishing variables was offensive efficiency, explaining for 96.1% of the observed phenomenon. There is a continuity of the obtained results with the previous championship, played in 2017. Of all the technical elements of basketball, it is still the shots made, assists and defensive rebounds that have the most significant impact on the final score in European women’s basketball.

Tena (Universidad Carlos III)* May, 2008 Abstract- When skilled labour is imported to work in a creative industry, local workers may benefit, in terms of their own level of skill, through contact with new techniques and practices. European basketball offers an opportunity to investigate the reality of this general claim. For a panel of 47 European countries observed over more than twenty years, we model probability of qualification for, and subsequent performance in, Olympic Tournaments and World and European Championships. We demonstrate that an increase in the number of foreigners in a domestic league tends to generate a subsequent improvement in the performance of the national team (which has to be comprised only of local players). Given that foreign players have such a beneficial impact, we develop a theoretical framework for how a regulator of the sports labour market might take this into account. key words: basketball, migration, spillovers. * We acknowledge financial support from the Consejo Superior de Deportes of Spain. Game Performance Determining Sports Results During 2003–2016 Matches by Kazimierz Mikołajec1, Damian Banyś1, Justyna Żurowska-Cegielska1, Marek Zawartka3, Karol Gryko2 The main aim of this study was to establish game-related statistics that determined sport results in the Basketball EuroLeague between 2003 and 2016. The study encompasses matches played by 10 teams during 13 consecutive seasons of the EuroLeague. Twenty-two offensive and defensive game related variables were registered. Calculations were performed to establish which of the variables determined performance in the Basketball EuroLeague matches within the analysed period. Based on a number of mathematical and statistical analyses, the elements of play that had the highest effect on sports success were selected. The following determinants displayed the most significant correlations with sport results in the EuroLeague within the analysed period: two-point shots made (2PT-made), two- point shot attempts (2PT-attempts), three-point shots made (3PT-made), one-point shots made (1PT-made), one-point shot attempts (1PT-attempts), assists, fouls and field goals made. The game outcome in basketball is influenced by many variables which may not always be significant in a given match. However, the continuous effort to maintain these variables at the highest possible level is advantageous over less-organised teams. Failure in creating and establishing such a model led to the situation that some traditional teams with a very successful history (such as Limoges, Benetton Basket, Kinder Bologna and more recently Montepaschi Siena and so on) have disappeared from the top-level European competition. Without any doubt, since its inception, Euroleauge Basketball has achieved quite a remarkable progress in enhancing the commercial value of the top-level European basketball league and significantly increasing the competition’s revenues. However, it still cannot be argued that the operating model of European basketball is now based on economically sound and rational principles & practices. In an effort to strengthen the financial stability of its clubs and to improve its financial governance model, Euroleague Basketball enacted its Financial Stability and Fair Play Regulations (FSFP). In this study, we perform a critical review of the financial criteria as set out in the FSFP rules (as stated in 2016-2017 Bylaws), both from an economic and legal perspective, also considering the “current reality” in European Basketball.

    Press statement about 2019-2020 EuroLeague calendar changes On april 8th 2019 ULEB and its member leagues were informed by Euroleague Basketball (ECA) about its calendar changes for the season 2019-2020. On December 19th 2018 all leagues received a "draft calendar" for the 2019-2020 Euroleague season from ECA that served as the base to plan their respective domestic leagues, as it was in previous years. On March 13th 2019 ECA invited all shareholder leagues for a meeting at its offices in Barcelona. At this meeting ULEB and its member leagues requested ECA for better dialogue and transparency in order to be able to collaborate in a positive way, as can be expected with shareholders. No concrete potential calendar changes were addressed at the meeting, except for the information that the final calendar had to be confirmed by the ECA Board on April 3rd 2019. After this meeting nor ULEB, nor its member leagues were consulted in any way regarding the significant modifications. These late and impacting calendar changes, including an earlier start and later end of the EuroLeague regular season and postponing the EuroLeague Final 4 by a week compared to previous seasons, make it extremely difficult for the domestic leagues to schedule their 2019-2020 season. National schedules of most leagues had already been finalized, based on arena availabilities, and had been sent out to the respective clubs. Unfortunately these late changes are another incident in the relationship between ECA and the domestic leagues that damages the interests of the domestic leagues and European basketball. It is ULEB’s conviction that all parties can benefit from an integrated and balanced model where local basketball, European basketball and national team basketball all have their place.
