2020-21Game Notes 2020-21 GAME NOTES Tulsa Oilers f ECHL GAME #91 TULSA OILERS vs INDY FUEL OILERS 2020-21 Record Friday, January 22 - BOK CENTER (TULSA, OK) OVERALL: 6-6-0-1 HOME: 4-1-0-1 TULSA OILERS INDY FUEL 6-6-0-1 (13 PTS) 9-1-0-0 (18 PTS) AWAY: 2-5-0-0 Fourth Place - WEST First Place - EAST MOUNTAIN: 6-5-0-1 HEAD COACH: ROB MURRAY (4th SEASON) HEAD COACH: DOUG CHRISTENSEN OH CAPTAIN MY CAPTAIN Adam Pleskach continues to impress in his eighth season in Tulsa. He has the league’s longest home point streak, collecting a point in every game at the BOK Center. He is also just two goals away from WESTERN CONFERENCE 200 pro goals and he is three away from that mark in an Oilers’ sweater. STANDINGS (WIN PCT) FLOOD GATES OPEN Brent Gates signed with the Oilers on Jan. 7. The 80th pick of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft played on 1. ALLEN- 16 assignment from San Diego last season, amassing 20 points in 25 games as an Oiler. Scoreless in 2. WICHITA - 13 POINTS his first three games, the 6-2 forward has collected three goals in the last two games. A player with a 3. UTAH - 13 POINTS lethal shot, Gates has beaten the goalie clean off the initial shot for all three scores. He scored three consecutive Tulsa goals, including all of the Oilers’ goals on Sunday in Rapid City, officially opening the 4. TULSA - 13 POINTS flood Gates. 5. KANSAS CITY - 10 POINTS 6. RAPID CITY - 8 POINTS FAMILIAR FACES 7. FORT WAYNE - 0 POINTS To comply with league safety protocols, the Oilers have brought in five faces— most of them familiar. Forwards Dino Balsamo and Griff Jeszka have both played multiple games with Tulsa this season. PAST 10 GAMES Balsamo collected an assist in one of his two games as an Oiler. Both players participated in training 12/27 at ALN (5-1 L) camp as well, giving them a strong understanding of head coach Rob Murray’s systems. The duo are 12/31 at KC (4-1 L) 1/2 at KC (4-3 W) joined by defenseman Nick Minerva and forward Ryan Smith - both from the Macon Mayhem. 1/8 vs UTA (3-2 OTW) SCOUTING THE FUEL 1/9 vs UTA (1-0 W) Indy continued their hot run on Wednesday, defeating the Oilers 3-2 with yet another comeback win. 1/10 vs UTA (3-2 SOW) Every goal this season has been a one-goal game for the Fuel, and their 9-1-0-0 record is the best in the 1/15 at RC (4-1 W) ECHL — ranking tops in total wins, points and win percentage. The fuel are 4-1-0-0 in games they trail through two periods. Orlando is the only other team in the league to win more than once when it that 1/16 at RC (3-1 L) situation, going 2-5-1-0. In comparison, Kasnas City is 0-6-0-0 and the Oilers are 0-5-0-1 when trailing 1/17 at RC (3-2 L) after two periods. Billy Christopoulos — who made his Fuel debut Wednesday — is one of the best 1/20 vs INDY (3-2 L) goalies in the ECHL over the last two season. During the 2019-20 season, Christopoulos went 23-3-3 with Toledo.     AMERKS DAILY PRESS CLIPS W ednesday, April 14, 2021 Amerks Sign Three To Professional Tryouts By Staff Report Amerks.com The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has signed forwards Brent Gates and Brendan Warren and goaltender Stefanos Lekkas to Professional Tryouts (PTO). Gates, 23, joins the Amerks after splitting the 2020-21 season with the Indy Fuel and Tulsa Oilers (ECHL), recording 21 points on eight goals and 13 assists in 35 games. The 6-foot-2, 196-pound forward has also notched an assist in two games with the San Diego Gulls (AHL) this season. During the 2019-20 campaign between the Gulls and Oilers, Gates combined for 14 goals and 11 assists for 25 points in 45 contests. Gates ranked second among all Tulsa rookies in goals (10) while finishing second in both assists (10) and points (20) in 25 games before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The second-year pro has appeared in 28 career AHL games with the Gulls, totaling eight points (5+3) while also adding 41 points (18+23) over 60 contests with Tulsa. Prior to turning pro, the Grand Rapids, Mich., native completed a four-year collegiate career at the University of Minnesota (Big- 10), where he registered 85 points (42+43) in 148 games with the Gophers from 2015-2019. As team captain during his senior season, Gates finished third on the team with 18 assists and 31 points, both career-highs. In addition to being a three-time member of the All Big-10 Academic team, he helped Minnesota win two-straight Big-Ten regular-season champions in 2016 and 2017.

A SUNY-Oswego product, Keenan has seen limited action this season. Originally signed with Toledo, the rookie forward made his pro debut with Tulsa on Jan. 28. The rookie had only played four games in April before being called upon for the series against the Allen Americans. Keenan scored all three of his goals at big times, including the goal that jumpstarted a 4-2 comeback against Allen at the Allen Event Center. Keenan showed tenacity and grit on two of his three goals, outworking the hulking opposition.     Angela Ruggiero Speaker In her senior year at Harvard University, Ruggiero won the 2004 Patty Kazmaier Angela Ruggiero Award as the top player in U.S. women’s collegiate hockey. She graduated from Harvard cum laude in 2004 with a degree in government. Ruggiero made several U.S. professional hockey “firsts” on January 28, 2005, when she played for the Speech Topics Tulsa Oilers in a Central Hockey League game against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. She was the first woman to actively play in a regular season professional hockey game in the United States at a position other than goalie. In addition, Olympians since her brother Bill Ruggiero also played for the Oilers, So the list of possible Angela Ruggiero speaker topics extends well beyond just the normal sports stories. An Angela Ruggiero speaker appearance will enhance any event. In May 2006, Ruggiero was selected from a field of twelve Olympians to be a candidate on the sixth season of NBC’s business-themed reality game show The Apprentice. The season debuted in January 2007. During Ruggiero’s time on the show, many references were made to her Olympic and hockey experience. To start the season, 13 of the ECHL’s 26 teams will begin play. However, the Oilers MOUNTAIN DIVISION will see many familiar faces coming to the BOK Center. Six of the seven teams in the STANDINGS Mountain Division will be playing in the 2020-21 season, with the only exception being the Idaho Steelheads, who opted out of the season earlier this month.
