2020-21Game Notes 2020-21 GAME NOTES Tulsa Oilers f ECHL GAME # TULSA OILERS vs ALLEN AMERICANS OILERS 2020-21 Record Saturday, December 12 - BOK CENTER (TULSA, OK) OVERALL: 0-0-0-1 HOME: 0-0-0-1 TULSA OILERS ALLEN AMERICANS 0-0-0-0 (0 PTS) 0-0-0-0 (0 PTS) AWAY: 0-0-0-0 Fourth Place - MOUNTAIN Fifth Place - MOUNTAIN MOUNTAIN: 0-0-0-1 HEAD COACH: ROB MURRAY (4th SEASON) HEAD COACH: STEVE MARTINSON STATE OF THE UNION The Oilers were able to pick up a point on opening night, but fell short to their lon- gest-standing rival, the Wichita Thunder. Tulsa pulled level after entering the final frame MOUNTAIN DIVISION behind by two tallies. Neither team were able to take advantage of the open ice during the STANDINGS seven-minute, three-on-three overtime challenge, leading to a skills competition that saw Wichita emerge victorious. Peter Crinella was the lone shootout scorer. 1. RAPID CITY- 2 POINTS TWO ENDS OF THE SAME ROPE 2. WICHITA - 2 POINTS Tulsa picked up a pair of goals in the opening contest. Both of the goals came in the final frame, and 3. KANSAS CITY - 1 POINTS both were scored in similar fashion, but the goal scorers were quite different. Adam Pleskach, who 4. TULSA - 1 POINTS leads the Oilers in all statistical categories since joining the ECHL in 2014-15, opened the scoring. The 5. ALLEN - 0 POINTS goal put him just five shy of 200 professional goals —a mile marker rarely met. Gregg Burmaster pulled 6. UTAH- 0 POINTS the second goal out of the hat, cramming home the puck on a strong effort play. The goal was not goal number 195, but instead was his first ECHL goal. Burmaster will look to continue his run, with teams having the ability to field four lines. PAST 10 GAMES SEARCHING FOR GOLOD Forward Maxim Golod joins fellow rookie Bryce Kindopp and goaltender Olle Eriksson Ek as 12/11 vs WIC (3-2 OTL) players assigned by the Anaheim Ducks of the AHL. Golod is only 20 years old, and has not made a professinal appearance. However, it will not be his first taste of professional hockey. The Ducks-contracted forward went to development camp with the Detroit Red Wings, impressing enough to get an invite to the main camp. His 78 points and 53 points both led the Erie Otters last season. Golod also played alongside the Ducks sixth-overall pick Jamie Drysdale while with Erie. AMERICAN TOUGH The Allen Americans are coming off another strong season. The Americans topped the Mountain Division before the season came to a halt, and beat the Oilers in seven of the 10 contests last season. Tulsa will look to get the upper-hand against the experienced squad, 2020-21 OILERS LEADERS 2020-21 ALLEN LEADERS PROUD ECHL AFFILIATE: ANAHEIM DUCKS POINTS: Several Tied at 1 POINTS: GOALS: Pleskach, Burmaster - 1 GOALS: ASSISTS: Llewellyn, McKee, Balsamo - 1 ASSISTS: +/-: Llewellyn - 2 +/-: PIMS: Burmaster, Jenkins - 2 PIMS: WINS: WINS: SAVE %: Devin Williams - SAVE %: PREGAME SHOW: 6:45 PM | MIXLR.COM/TULSAOILERS | MIXLR APP BROADCAST: | PXP: ZACK REYNOLDS.

  • Procedures to New PIHL RULE 8.3.E: VARSITY OVERTIME – in the Event
Procedures to new PIHL RULE 8.3.E: VARSITY OVERTIME – In the event the game is tied at the end of regulation; 1) Teams play an additional overtime period of not more than three (3) minutes with the team scoring first declared the winner and being awarded an additional point. 2) The overtime period will be played with each team at 3-on-3 manpower (plus goaltender) for the full three-minute period. 3) There will be no intermission between the end of the third period and the beginning of the overtime period. 3-on-3 play will begin immediately once the referee is ready. 4) Goalies will not switch ends and remain in their 3rd period end for the entire overtime. 5) Manpowers during overtime will be adjusted to reflect the situation in the game, but at no time will a team have fewer than three (3) skaters on the ice during the overtime period. For example, if a team enters the overtime period on a power play, manpower would be adjusted from 5 on 4 at the end of regulation to 4 on 3 at the start of overtime. If a minor penalty is assessed during overtime, the teams will play 4 on 3. If a second minor penalty is assessed to the same team during overtime, the teams will play 5 on 3. 6) Clubs who pull their goaltender for an extra attacker during the overtime period (other than on a delayed penalty) will be subject to the potential forfeiture of their one (1) point earned for the tie at the end of regulation in the event the opposing team scores into the empty net.

Scoring goals is an important part of the game but often over looked by a defenseman. The main object is to see how the goals are scored and if there are certain ways that most goals are scored. Previous research has been done on goal scoring as a whole, but very few, if not any have been done on defenseman goal scoring, The work and findings were done using the 2013/2014 NHL season. Using different variables, the goals were recorderd to show what was involved in how the goal was scored. The results for defenseman scoring that can be made are that quick, accurate shots are the best shooting type to score. Getting to the middle of the ice and shooting right away was also a key finding. For defenseman, it was important that when the puck is received, either shot right away or to hold onto the puck and wait till a play develops in front of the net.
