Mots-clés : #Metoo, télévision, représentations, crimes sexuels iv Abstract The social movement #Metoo has changed the way people think about sexual harassment and sexual abuse issues. Indeed, in the fall of 2017, a wave of denunciations broke out in the public sphere and since, the boundaries of what is acceptable and what is not seem to have been redefined within several societies. Based on this societal observation, we thought we noticed a revival of the issues surrounding the social movement #Metoo in American fiction television series. This paper aims to illustrate and analyze the evolution of representations of sexual crimes and sexual harassment inspired by the #Metoo movement. Considering the key milestones of this movement, this study focuses on its impact on North American society. This study also looks at a sociological framework in order to observe the way social representations work and thus, better understand their impact on a given society. In addition, by comparing two television corpuses characterized by the before and the after #Metoo, this paper wishes to highlight the points of similarities and disparities between these two periods evocative of the upheaval of morals around this issue. A film analysis of an episode example complements this argument. I bring this series into the discussion because of the ways in which it echos, parallels, and alludes to both Emma and Clueless individually, and the two as a source pair. I do not argue that the series is an actual adaptation, but rather, a sort of collage, recombining motifs from both source texts to create something new, exciting, and completely absurd.

he ULY 9 8 MORGAN HORSE NATIONAL MORGAN HORSE SHOW JULY ?6, 27 THE MORGAN HORSE Oldest and Most Highly Esteemed of American Horses MORGAN HORSES are owned the nation over and used in every kind of service where good saddle horses are a must. Each year finds many new owners of Morgans — each owner a great booster who won- ders why he didn't get wise to the best all-purpose saddle horse sooner. Keystone, the champion Morgan stallion owned by the Keystone Ranch, Entiat, Washington, was winner of the stock horse class at Wash- ington State Horse Show. Mabel Owen of Merrylegs Farm wanted to breed and raise hunters and jumpers. She planned on thoroughbreds until she discovered the Morgan could do everything the thoroughbred could do and the Morgan is calmer and more manageable. So the Morgan is her choice. The excellent Morgan stallion, Mickey Finn, owned by the Mar-La •antt Farms, Northville, Michigan, is another consistent winner in Western LITTLE FLY classes. A Morgan Horse on Western Range. Spring Hope, the young Morgan mare owned by Caven-Glo Farm Westmont, Illinois, competed and won many western classes throughout the middle-west shows the past couple of years, leaving the popular Quar- ter horse behind in many instances. The several Morgan horses owned by Frances and Wilma Reichow of Lenore, Idaho, usually win the western classes wherever they show. J. C. Jackson & Sons operate Pleasant View Ranch, Harrison, Mon- tana. Their Morgan stallion, Fleetfield, is a many-times champion in western stock horse classes. They raise and sell many fine Morgan horses each year.

  • Representation of Psychopathic Characteristics in Fiction
Representation of Psychopathic Characteristics in Fiction A Transitivity Analysis of the Protagonist’s External and Internal Dialogue in the TV-series You Author: Madeleine Olsson Supervisor: Jukka Tyrkkö Examiner: Charlotte Hommerberg Term: Autumn 20 Subject: Linguistics Level: Bachelor Course code: 2EN10E Abstract The series You (2018) challenges the traditional characteristics of a protagonist and introduces the audience to a psychopathic protagonist with traits which are typically recognised in the traditional villain. This study investigates the portrayal of the fictional character Joe Goldberg’s psychopathic characteristics by analysing the language used in his external and internal dialogues. More specifically, drawing on the tools of transitivity analysis (Halliday 1985), the study focuses on the process types and corresponding semantic roles assigned to the pronouns I and you used by the protagonist over the course of three strategically selected episodes of the series. The results of the qualitative and quantitative transitivity analysis of internal and external dialogues throughout three chosen episodes shows that in the internal dialogues Joe appears analytical and assigns attributes and actions to you which correspond to the mental representation of the object of his desire, Beck. While Joe’s internal dialogues ascribe some appealing attributes to Beck, the transitivity analysis also shows that he identifies traits of vulnerability, such as lack of confidence and being indolent in reaching her goals. In contrast, Joe’s approach in the external dialogues continuously appears to project him as a humble person who puts the needs of others before his own, expressing deep consideration and understanding of the needs and emotions of others.
