Held at the River House in Violet, the event was part of a national celebration acknowledging the important role women have in the workplace and community. Sharing this recognition with Lumetta were Dr. Tina Tinney, the Chancellor of Nunez Community College, and community activist Jennifer Heinz. Lisa Marie Brandon, the President of the local BPW Chapter, said that these women “go above and beyond in the workplace and possess qualities that make them role models.” Lumetta has served the students of St. Bernard for over thirty years. She began her career as a high school math teacher before ascending the ranks of educational leadership. A Fellow with the Harvard University Stra- tegic Data Project, Lumetta has also served as the dis- trict’s Testing Coordinator and Supervisor for Second- ary Instruction. Lumetta is humbled by the recognition and credits her fellow teachers and colleagues for much of her success. “Our school system is like a family,” she said. “I strongly believe that is what has helped me to grow into my current position. I am incredibly grateful to work with such a dedicated and selfless group of individuals.”
