Andrew Biggs Going into a local supermarket on 2nd January, I probably shouldn't have been as surprised as I was to see Easter eggs already on sale. I'm not just talking about the miniature ones but the full sized variety. I'm actually quite curious as to whether anybody actually buys theirs this early. I'm also wondering whether I should have left my Christmas decorations up as, at this rate, the supermarkets will have their Christmas fare on show by Easter Monday. Having said that, we at Brent Knoll kept our tree up until the Sunday after twelfth night as we shared it at our joint Covenant service on 12th January. One of my favourite services of the Methodist year, we were, as always, pleased to see our Brean, East Brent and village friends. Our Emmaus course will begin again on Thursday 30th January at 2.30pm and will continue on 13th and 27th February. Our bible study group will be held on the last Monday of each month at 2.30pm. All are welcome. God bless. Minutes of the November meetings: The Minutes of the meetings held in December were approved as true and accurate reflections of those meetings. Seeking justice is 'absolutely central' to Christian faith By Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury When Christians speak in public about community flourishing or about justice, there’s always someone who will pop up and ask why we’re sticking our noses in, as if these things were miles away from the proper concerns of Christianity. Recently there have been the issues of money and credit unions and power costs of which the church has spoken. Stick to God, we are told. So we do, and we find Jesus saying: Love God, love neighbour.

Steer Davies Gleave has been commissioned by Sedgemoor District Council to support the Council in the development of a transport investment strategy which goes beyond the current Local Plan period (to 2032) and up to 2050. 2. The study is currently in its initial stages. The purpose of this technical note is to present a summary of the policy context in which the transport strategy is being developed, including a summary of the spatial, economic and political changes planned or currently in effect. The note is structured as follows: National policy context Sub-national policy context Local policy context Key themes: PESTLE analysis National policy context National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) (Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG), 2012) 3. The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) sets out the Government’s planning policies for England and how these should be applied. It is centred around a presumption in favour of sustainable development, which is to be seen as a “golden thread” that runs through plan-making and decision- taking. 4. The NPPF emphasises that the transport system needs to be balanced in favour of sustainable transport modes (defined as “any efficient, safe and accessible means of transport with overall low impact on the environment, including walking and cycling, low and ultra low emission vehicles, car sharing and public transport1”), while at the same time recognising that opportunities to maximise sustainable transport solutions will vary from urban to rural areas.

She had been a family friend for many years having helped us in the house when we were children. She had a wonderfully retentive memory, and after she had been reminiscing about life in the village, we asked her to write down some of her memories. She was rather diffident about such an undertaking, but sometime afterwards we received a notebook through the post, containing her recollections. This was the start of the book. Chrissie's memories are not necessarily in chronological order, as they were random jottings, but we feel this in no way detracts from its interest.

Summary of Decision: I dismiss the appeal. Procedural Matters 1. The Inquiry sat on 7-10, 14-17 and 22-23 August. On the accompanied visit I visited a number of locations in and around Brent Knoll and I also carried out unaccompanied visits during and after the Inquiry to viewpoints suggested by the parties and to wind turbines near Swaffham in Norfolk, as requested by the Appellant and Knoll to Windfarm (KNOLL). On the last named visits I saw the Swaffham 1 and 2 turbines and the North Pickenham Windfarm at close quarters and from a range of viewpoints in the surrounding area; these turbines are comparable in scale to those in the appeal proposal1.
