Back to Growth

As in most of the EU countries, the Czech economy experienced a strong recession in 2009. GDP declined by 4.1% over the year, but economic indicators showed a turn for the better from the third quarter. In the quarter-on-quarter comparison, GDP began a continual rise of 0.5%, which continued at the beginning of 2010. The drive of the restored economic growth was the export- oriented industry, which initially benefi ted from the car scrappage incentive introduced in several EU countries. The Czech economy thus returned to the trend of growth, which will not be rapid at fi rst, but will most likely be higher in com- parison with the “old” EU countries. The Czech Republic has managed to lower the rate of piracy from the original 66% in 1994 by 29 percentage points. These numbers put the Czech Republic in the 13th place worldwide when measuring the percentage of illegal software.

IT IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC IS COMPARABLE TO THE DEVELOPED WORLD In conclusion, it can be said that the Czech Republic represents a highly competitive market in the area of ICT, with discriminat- ing customers and competent local busi- ness entities, whose business culture is comparable to similar entities in the EU or OECD countries.

MOST IMPORTANT IS THE BUILDING OF FAIR RELATIONSHIPS

Czech Business and Trade asked Gamin’s Executive Director Radana Brábníková for an interview. Here are the questions and replies:

What does your success in the competition for the Firm of the Year of the Moravia-Silesia Region mean to you? Naturally we have been greatly pleased with the award. At the time of the award, we were all greatly excited, but from the long-term point of view I believe that more important for our trade partners is the long-term building of fair relationships, mutual confi dence, the observance of what has been agreed. The award is rather just cream on the cake.

What are the company’s plans for the future? In the near future we’ll be working hard to promote the export of our products and broaden Radana Brábníková the range of our services, including education. One of the most essential tasks awaiting us is the Executive Director Gamin s.r.o. reconstruction of the company’s headquarters and the creation of a representative seat.
