Abstract This master thesis deals with the automatic annotation of images using the Wikipedia category system.4 The annotation is carried out using the image’s captions and their respective text references. A suitable category is suggested for existing images. The images are illustrations from scientific articles published in open access journals. The aim of the work is to develop a conceptual procedure and to carry out and evaluate it on the basis of a selected number of images. The images shall be available for further research and for projects of the Wikimedia Foundation.5 The annotation method is used in the NOA project - reuse of open access media.6 1Das Projekt Wikipedia ist eine mehrsprachige Online-Enzyklopädie, die frei und kollektiv erstellt wird. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia 2https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation 3Projekt der Hochschule Hannover und der Technischen Informationsbibliothek Hannover: Nachnut- zung von Open Access Abbildungen 4The Wikipedia project is a multilingual online encyclopaedia created freely and collectively.https: //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia. 5https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation 6Project of the Hannover University of Applied Sciences and the Hannover Technical Information Library: Reuse of open access media II Inhaltsverzeichnis Abkürzungsverzeichnis VI Abbildungsverzeichnis VIII Tabellenverzeichnis IX 1. Animal Spot Animal Spot uses intriguing specimens from Cincinnati Museum Center’s collections to teach children how each animal is unique to its environment. Touch a cast of an elephant’s skull, feel a real dinosaur fossil, finish a three-layer fish puzzle, observe live fish and use interactives to explore how animals move, “dress” and eat. Case 1: Modes of Balance and Movement (Case design: horse legs in boots) Animals walk, run, jump, fly, and/or slither to their destination. Animals use many different parts of their bodies to help them move. The animals in this case are: • Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata) • Grasshopper (Shistocerca americana) • Locust (Dissosteira carolina) • Broad-wing damselfly (Family: Calopterygidae) • King Rail (Rallus elegans) • Eastern Mole (Scalopus aquaticus) • Brown trout (Salmo trutta) • Gila monster (Heloderma suspectum) • Damselfly (Agriocnemis pygmaea) • Pufferfish (Family: Tetraodontidae) • Bullfrog (Rona catesbrana) • Cicada (Family: Cicadidae) • Moths and Butterflies (Order: Lepidoptera) • Sea slugs (Order: Chepalaspidea) • Koala (Phascolarctos cinereus) • Fox Squirrel (Sciurus niger) • Giant Millipede (Subspecies: Lules) Case 2: Endo/Exoskeleton (Case design: Surrounded by bones) There are many different kinds of skeletons; some inside the body and others outside. The animals with skeletons on the inside have endoskeletons. Those animals that have skeletons on the outside have exoskeletons. Endoskeletons • Hellbender salamander (Genus: Cryptobranchus) • Python (Family: Boidae) • Perch (Genus: Perca)

Dallol area is situated in the northern most part of the Eastern African Rift system. The studied coral outcrops are aligned along the northwestern margin of the Afar rift. This research focused on the investigation of systematics of corals and associated fossils of mollusca, echinoidea, ostracoda and foraminifera together with the reconstruction of past environmental conditions. Different scientific methods were followed in order to achieve the objectives of the study. These are detailed insitu morphological descriptions; field observations and measurements; laboratory preparations and microscopic examinations; comparison of the described specimens with type specimens; and paleoecological calculations using PAST-3 software. Total of 164 fossil and 9 sediment samples are collected from the field and examined. The Dallol corals are classified into 12 Families, 29 Genera and 60 Species.

Emails: [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected] 5Corresponding author Abstract Asterocheres Boeck, 1859 is the most speciose genus within the copepod family Asterocheridae Giesbrecht, 1899. Its main hosts are sponges, cnidarians, bryozoans, and echinoderms. Among the latter there are records of Asterocheres associations with some species of the echinoid genus Eucidaris Pomel, 1883. Despite the wide distribution of Eucidaris tribuloides (Lamarck, 1883) in the coastal waters of Brazil, no records exist as yet of any copepod associated with this species. Asterocheres siphunculus sp. nov. is described herein based on samples collected from E. tribuloides sampled from two different sites off the coast of Salvador city, Bahia state, in northeastern Brazil. The new species shares a 20-segmented antennule with 20 congeners, but differs from them by having a very short siphon that reaches the insertion of the maxilla, a very wide rostrum that occupies the entire area between the antennules, and a pedigerous somite 4 with pointed and narrow posterolateral corners and a concave posterior margin.

Abstract Background: The axial complex of echinoderms (Echinodermata) is composed of various primary and secondary body cavities that interact with each other. In sea urchins (Echinoidea), structural differences of the axial complex in "regular" and irregular species have been observed, but the reasons underlying these differences are not fully understood. In addition, a better knowledge of axial complex diversity could not only be useful for phylogenetic inferences, but improve also an understanding of the function of this enigmatic structure.

A number of species of the Echinoidea have hitherto been recorded from various places along the Kii Peninsula, but such records are scattered in various works dealing with the embryological or ecological subject, and are, naturally, not all of them quite reliable taxonomically. Whereas recently a preliminary record on the regular-formed echinoids of Wakayama Prefecture has been given by SAKAGUCHI, basing on the identification by the late echinologist Hayato IKEDA, in "Kisyil Dosyokubutu", vol. II, no. 2 (1935), no special work on this group has been given till now, excepting my two short mimeo graphed papers. I therefore thpught that a catalogue of all the known echinoids hitherto recorded or described from the Kii region would be of some value to stu dents interested to these animals. The echinoids given in the present paper amount to 53 species in all, of which 33 belong to the Regularia and 20 to the Irregularia. Among them, 45 species are seen in materials at hand and thus their occurrence has been confirmed by myself.
