I know what a strain this has been on all our Leaders and I am proud to have witnessed the supreme efforts you have made to keep the show on the road,. One off the few duties I have had to undertake as Chair of Cotswold Vale District is the scrutiny of Risk Assessments and I am greatly impressed at the amount of work all of our Leaders have put in and the detail to which they have paid attention in ensuring all involved remain safe, yet are able to enjoy the excitement of the event. It is disappointing, however, that I have received for this magazine only a miniscule amount reflecting what has actually been done. Not a single picture! It would have been nice to advertise it.

    Pack Produced By Girlguiding Ulster Trainers 2013 Welcome to Share the Fun! The aim of this challenge badge is to promote all the fun activities that Guiding has to offer in your area. We hope that you and your girls will enjoy trying out all the various activities in the resource. How to use this Pack The activities in this pack have been set out in the 4 section groups i.e. Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section. Most of the activities can be completed in one meeting, although a few of them may take a little longer. In order to obtain the badge each group needs to complete 4 of the 6 activities contained in their section, plus two activities from the “Continue to Share” section. When you have done this the badge is available from the Lorne shop - Girlguiding Ulster members receive this FREE! The badge will cost £1.00 each for members outside of Girlguiding Ulster Please see badge order at the end of the resource for more details. Complete 4 of the activities in this section having fun and friendship along the way Animal Pairs Game Object of game:- Match the baby animal with the correct adult animal. Materials needed:- Printout of animals Card Glue Scissors Leaders:- Print out the two sheets of animals provided and glue to card. Once dry use scissors to cut along solid lines to produce individual cards. Write names of animals on blank side of card. Instructions on how to play game:- Place all the adult cards on the floor with the animals facing up.

    Background and concepts of the Promise and Law for Trainers 1 Background and concept of the Promise and Law for © The Guide Association 2013 www.girlguiding.org.uk Trainers Introduction Girlguiding provides a framework to support the development of personal values. This framework is set out in the Guide Promise and the Guide Law. The Promise has evolved over the years in order to recognise the involvement of members of all faiths and none in guiding. We understand that for young people, as for adults at different times in their life, beliefs take different forms, which are not always about organised religion. No member is required to follow any particular faith. Instead, guiding encourages its members to develop positive personal values and the self-awareness, self-respect and self-confidence to make their own decisions. Members also Promise to ‘serve the Queen and my community’. At the very minimum, this means they are pledging to obey the laws of the land. However, it means much more than that. It is more than just a Promise not to be a bad citizen – it is a Promise to try to be a good and active citizen. In 1908 Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting and Guiding, had strong beliefs and convictions including a strong sense of stewardship of the earth and all living things and the value of small groups working and playing together. Out of Baden-Powell’s convictions grew the Scout Promise and Law from which the Girl Guide Promise was slightly modified. The Promise and the Law gives a purpose and a new meaning to life.

It has a secure bunker as it played an important role in WW2. It’s located in Adelboden, Switzerland Activities include skiing, hiking, chocolate (or cheese) fondue. Pax lodge Originally opened in 1939 (there have been 3 versions of Pax Lodge) It is located in Hampstead, London. In the same building you find the headquarters of WAGGGS (World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts).     Brownies & Rainbows Report for Annual General Meeting 2018 Acklam Rainbows Our unit continues to thrive and as it was 30 years since the Rainbow Movement started, 2017 was a special year for all Rainbow Units. To celebrate the occasion we joined together with other units from Cleveland County for a 'Fairy Festival' on a sunny afternoon in June. Girls and leaders dressed in fairy costumes had a wonderful time playing games, making wands, icing fairy cakes, and sliding down the Bouncy Castle. Congratulations go to 2 of our leaders, Rebecca Walters started a midwifery course at Leeds in September and we thank her for all her help and support over the last few years. In November Hannah Grant (nee Walters) slightly earlier than planned, gave birth to Arthur William who is now a bouncing baby boy. Sadly he won't be able to join Rainbows, however, in a few year’s time the Beavers could have a new recruit. Hazel Fowell Acklam Rainbows 49th Middlesbrough (Stainsby) Brownies Our Brownies meet every Wednesday evening during term time from 5.30 - 7pm in Acklam Grange School. We currently have 18 Brownies. We have spent another busy year - the following being some of the highlghts. In July 11 Brownies spent 3 nights at Holme House, Esk Valley nr Grosmont. We were joined by guides from Baptist church, St Barnabas and Nunthorpe Methodist who camped in the adjoining field. We spent the weekend being pirates and on the Saturday we had a pirate wide game then cooked pasta bolognaise on open fires. On the Sunday went to Whitby by train where we ate fish and chips and completed a treasure hunt.

    Pack Your Guiding Bag for an Adventure with Cheshire Forest Hi Everyone Following on from the success of the first County Challenge Badge (which has seen over 1200 girls and leaders from across the county taking part), we have launched our next challenge badge – ‘Pack Your Guiding Bag for an Adventure’. The badge takes you on a virtual tour to all the five World Centres, and the UK Guiding centres at Lorne Northern Ireland, Broneirion Wales, Waddow and Foxlease England, as well as our own activity centre at Pettypool. As a county, we are aware that some units have been meeting regularly via zoom over the last 10 months whilst others have not. This pack gives the opportunity for everyone to take part, whether you are meeting as a unit or not. Again there is no charge for the badge for members in Cheshire Forest, just let your leader know or show her when we do get a chance to meet face to face and she can order the badge for you. To gain the badge: n Rainbows and Brownies should complete 2 challenges from each section and 2 more from any section. n Guides, Rangers, Young Leaders, Leaders and Trefoil Guild members should complete 3 challenges from each section. The Challenge runs from 22nd February 2021 until 31st December 2021. As you will see, there is not a badge on the front of this pack, this is because the design will be chosen from those that are submitted for the design competition as part of the ‘Pettypool Challenge Section’.
