COMMITTEE MEETINGS Another is the regional development plan called Queen City Hub, the winner of 2005 American Plan- Membership Committee ning Association National Award ("like the Stanley Cup" of regional planning). Buffalo Place worked Wed. Feb. 18 @ 8:00am with the community and UB's Bob Shibley on a real plan to create a place where people can live, Ron Canestro’s office work, and enjoy themselves. Car-sharing on Main Street, rehabbing rentals, changing fire codes, Action Commercial Repair, Main St creating two-way streets (Pearl Street will be two-way street next year - you've been warned) are all (rescheduled from Feb 11 to Feb 18) part of this plan. Property values on Main Street have dropped by 54% since traffic stopped, while 90% of cities that have returned traffic to their pedestrian malls have seen improvements. Schmand revealed the 600-block of Main Street was re-opening to traffic the very next afternoon. Finance Committee Fri. Feb. 13th @ 8:00am Schmand referred us to the Buffalo Place logo to evidence their place in Buffalo's growth. Created in Mike Grimaldi’s office. 1996, it shows a skyline of some of our more recognisable structures (including my house, which I found disconcerting), fronted by an outline of the USS Littlerock. "Even then, we knew Buffalo had a waterfront." When you see that, and look at the changes that Buffalo Place has affected, you know our downtown corridor - and Rotary Rink - are in capable, visionary hands.
