Carøe Afleveringsdato: 24. oktober 2011 Samlet antal anslag incl. figurer: 259.313 Samlet antal sider (faktisk/normal) (116/114) Executive Summary The main purpose of the dissertation is to determine the value of SAS AB as a company with its primary operations in the Nordic region. Through analysis, the dissertation will further identify the drivers that have a significant effect on the value of the ongoing restructuring. Through recent years, SAS AB has shown bad results, and in connection hereof it has been necessary to make a capital contribution in order to maintain future operations. As a further action, SAS has initiated the retrenchment program Core SAS, improved profitability in operations and SAS expects further positive effects in the future. With a sector that is materially affected by macroeconomic factors as well as by fierce competition, the dissertation has analyzed both the surrounding environment and SAS internally in order to establish the basis for the future expectations, and thereby SAS’ value. In the strategic analysis, PEST-analysis, Porters Five Forces and Porters Generic Strategies are used to identify the influence of the surrounding environment on aviation and SAS’ ability to operate herein. In this connection, the significant factors are defined as being the close relation between development of GDP and the number of sold seats per kilometer (RPK). Further, the distribution between Premium and Leisure tickets is examined and thereby the earnings - Yield. At the cutoff date 17 August 2011, expectations for the future are positive, which is converted into an expectation of increased RPK and Yield. Through SAS’ cost saving strategy, the dissertation finds future reductions in Unit Cost. SAS is defined as ”Stuck-in-the- middle” as they attempt to deliver a product that they cannot live up to, and this has an effect on SAS’ reputation and their competitive strength. Through the financial analysis, the correlation between the utilized KPIs and the profitability in aviation is analyzed. SAS’ approach of cost saving is assessed as the only solution, as increases in both Yield and ASK result in reduced Load Factor, which in the end results in declining RASK compared to Unit Cost. The financial analysis examines the material items in SAS’ financial statements in order to forecast the future effects of the IAS 19 conversion, fleet structure and the accounting treatment of leasing, respectively. With an analysis of future CAPEX needs and risks of lawsuits, it gives the dissertation an off-set for preparation of budget and hereafter an estimation of SAS’ future free cash flow. The determination of value is based on three different theories as the determination is made with the capital based model, the relative values model and the substantive value model. All three theories use the results discovered in the previous sections. The conclusion of the objective determination of value is that SAS, if future operations can be maintained, is determined at between SEK/Share 12.62 and 13.33, and in case of immediate liquidation at a value of SEK/Share 2,29.     LIFE, DEATH AND REBIRTH OF THE B2B BUSINESS MODEL - THE CASE OF THE CIMBER AIRLINE Abstract: Many airline companies are struggling to survive after the industry has been hit hard by several crises. The reaction of companies is however heterogeneous, with family businesses reacting in a particular way given their inherent characteristics and particular risks. One airline that has went through cycles of expansion and decline is the Danish family-owned Cimber airline. In this paper, we aim to understand how and why Cimber’s business model changed over time. Since its original establishment in 1950 the family-owned airline Cimber experienced many changes. To study the development of their business model, we adopt a qualitative case study approach. The empirical base of the case study is formed by a set of interviews, with previous and current managers and employees, including both family and non-family, conducted in the period 2011-2014, complemented with secondary data, such as annual reports, newspaper articles and industry analyses. Cimber’s business model development can be divided into three different stages with a changing focus on different business model components. Our analysis shows that there is an important difference between the internal (family) and external involvement, with an important association to the complexity of the business model. Our findings imply that family businesses need to be aware of not only the opportunities but also the possible costs and risks when opening up their business model. Whereas establishing early relationships with key stakeholders is vital, it can also be risky on the long term to rely on a limited business model.

Achtmann Submitted to the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics on May 1, 1995, in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Aeronautics and Astronautics Abstract This thesis is intended to serve as a comprehensive introduction to world jet transport safety and aviation fire safety. Divided into six sections, this thesis contains: 1) a statistical review of overall levels of safety and risk assessment in world jet transportation, 2) a statistical breakdown of jet accidents occurring between 1970 and 1992 by accident type and cause, 3) a case review of major jet accidents involving fire, 4) a review of fire prevention and fire hardening measures in jet transport aircraft, 5) a review of fire management practices in world jet transport aviation, and 6) a comprehensive chronological summary of all world jet transport accidents occurring between 1970 and 1992. Special emphasis is placed on fire safety, as statistics have shown that both in-flight and post-crash fires are among least survivable of all accident causes and are leaders in total fatalities. Included is an exhaustive review of aviation fire-fighting agents and equipment, as well as design parameters and equipment used for the fire hardening of jet aircraft. Scandinavian Airlines ist in den letzten sechs Jahrzehnten kontinuierlich gewachsen – heute steht das Unternehmen für weit mehr als nur eine einzige Fluggesellschaft.     OPERATING INCOME REMAINS UNCHANGED In spite of weak market growth and lower fares, the SAS Group’s operating income before depre- ciation was 2,930 MSEK, which is on a level with the preceding year. Income before taxes amount- ed to –743 MSEK (–1,292). EFFECTIVE ACTION PROGRAM In 1991/1992 SAS carried out an action program in its airline operations which reduced costs by more than 3 billion SEK, corresponding to approximate- ly 14% of operating revenue. A new action pro- gram of the same dimension was initiated at year-end 1992. ACQUISITION OF LINJEFLYG During the year SAS acquired 51% of the shares in Linjeflyg, which was completely integrated with SAS from year-end 1992. TRAFFIC SYSTEM EXPANSION During the year SAS focused on regional traffic in the Baltic area, key business destinations in Europe, and the Far East. COOPERATION TALKS SAS is holding talks with KLM, Swissair and Austrian Airlines about the possibility of an extensive strategic cooperation.
