It is bounded by the parishes of Over Staveley and Kentmere to the west; Shap Rural to the north; Fawcett Forest and Whitwell & Selside to the east; Strickland Roger to the south. The parish is an area of 2717 hectares, encompassing the upper valley of the River Sprint, 8 miles long, 2 miles wide, ranging from SD5299 to NY4607, from Garnett Bridge in the south to Harter Fell in the north. Longsleddale is a non-nucleated village, the 30 houses being scattered over 4½ miles, each sited above the flood plain, but where there is water from spring or stream all year round.     HURD the WORD MARCH 2018 th At the time of writing this column the 100 anniversary of Votes for Women has recently passed. The right of women to vote in 1918 at the end of World War I was limited and took another ten years for the franchise to be widened. It was a great victory, and with a sense of understatement recognised the contribution and achievement of women during the struggle in the Great War. It wasn’t of course just about that. It was more importantly about the Tarn Farm Vets -Shap fundamental right of women to exist and accrue the benefits that were given and enjoyed by men in a patriarchal society that often treated women as second-class citizens. Even No Call-Out Fees today we see that the place of women in the UK and internationally still has a long way to go. Equal pay, responsibility at higher levels of business and government and other Competitive Drug Prices sections of society are woefully short for women in general. Society, including the Local Top Quality Vet Services Church, with women occupying all levels of responsibility, is waking up to these injustices. Hopefully the situation is changing and will continue to change. We shall see. Shap Beck Quarry, Shap, Penrith, Cumbria, CA10 2NX _____________________________________________________________________ 1.0 RECOMMENDATION 1.1 That, having taken account of the environmental information in the Environmental Statement submitted with the application, planning permission is GRANTED for the reasons stated in Appendix 1 and subject to the conditions in Appendix 2. 1.2 That the planning assessment in Section 4 of this report shall form the basis of the statement required to be made public under Regulation 21 of the Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) (England and Wales) Regulations 1999. 2.0 THE PROPOSAL 2.1 This application is for the determination of conditions relating to planning permission 3/92/9013 (incorporating permission WCC491) which was granted consent in September 1993 in accordance with Section 95 of the Environment Act 1995. 2.2 The Environment Act 1995 places an obligation on planning authorities to undertake a Periodic Review of old mineral planning permissions every 15 years. The applicant has submitted a scheme of conditions supported by an Environmental Statement (ES) to assess the potential effects arising from continued operation of the permissions. 2.3 The National Park boundary runs through the north of the site which comprises the quarry working area.
