This would allow campuses, where solutions may need to be very different, have voice into the system-wide decisions. WACTC Tech committee decided to have SMEs as part of implementation team, so colleges will each have the chance to send a person for feedback. Gainful Employment & AAG Updates, Derek Edwards Background on GE: This was aimed at for-profits Applies to terminal certificate programs Anything that is TIV loan (except for Perkins) included Smaller programs don’t need to be counted Informed Student Disclosure that includes: o Graduation rate o Jobs for degree o Average debt We must provide reports to Department of Education o 104 Dear Colleague letters/circulars in Dept. of ED on GE WSSSC Executive Board President: Damon Bell, Olympic College President Elect: Matt Campbell, Pierce College- Puyallup Secretary: Rosie Rimando-Chareunsap, South Seattle College Treasurer: Jose da Silva, Walla Walla Community College Immediate Past President: Deb Casey, Green River College Members-at-large: Christina Castorena, Edmonds Community College & Ata Karim, Bellevue College o 415 page handbook, informs how to do data input Desire from WSSSC that there be common definitions, should be work that we do as a system to create data definitions o Set a small committee to agree upon definitions Deb, Ruby, Sy Ear, Dawna, Dave Paul (possibly), Jess, seek rep from RPC, include Joe (or Ruben), Nancy /Joyce of SBCTC To develop common terms definition, draft plan o Need to coordinate our terms Run the terms by the AAG's office for review o We need to submit a plan in July 1, so this work must occur by June FYI: AAG Conduct Institute o Big Bend August 14, Big Bend o Westside, August 26 (Could be South) o Morning substantive law, afternoon mock hearings AAG ruling that we cannot charge S&A fees to RS, we can charge on below-college level credits Everfi (Campus Clarity), Damon Bell Phone call last week with HRMC, who would like to continue with Everfi if we renew for one year, it is more, price goes down if we renew for 3 years HRMC wants to renew at the 3 year rate ($3161/year annually per institution) Discussion around how to meet compliance under current laws, and possibility that current laws may change WACTC wants to know how many are using it, employees are using it well Walla Walla will include it in a mandatory 1st year experience course LWIT requires it in programs that have had incidents For the coverage in compliance that it affords us, it is a small price to pay Motion Proposed by Jose da Silva: Renew Everfi contract for 3 years 2nd: Ata Karim, others Aye: Unanimous (29), Opposed: 0, Abstentions: 0 MOTION PASSES Maxient: Proposed to be a summer discussion item around system-wide approach to lower cost per college if we are all using it. Maxient held a recent local training (Portland) 2017/2018 Meeting Locations, All July 10, 2017: Summer WSSSC-Council Liaison meeting, TCC July 11-12, 2017: Summer WSSSC meeting, TCC July 12, 2017: Joint meeting day with IC 2017-2018 Meeting Slate: October 12-13, 2017: Fall WSSSC, Wenatchee Valley February 1-2, 2018: Winter WSSSC, Cascadia April 26-27, 2018: Spring WSSSC Centralia (only if we can stay at Great Wolf and we all have to go down the slides) WSSSC Executive Board President: Damon Bell, Olympic College President Elect: Matt Campbell, Pierce College- Puyallup Secretary: Rosie Rimando-Chareunsap, South Seattle College Treasurer: Jose da Silva, Walla Walla Community College Immediate Past President: Deb Casey, Green River College Members-at-large: Christina Castorena, Edmonds Community College & Ata Karim, Bellevue College Conference Debrief, All Acknowledgement of conference co-chairs, Darren Pitcher & Rosie Rimando-Chareunsap Shared general positive feedback from event: 632 registrants Full sessions Planning and implementation went smoothly Expect to break even on budget o Now we proceed with registration fee collection At the “How to become a Council” session, discussion of possible new councils: Child Care centers Veterans Housing/Res Life Outreach/Recruitment Undocumented Deans Council Conference Debrief: Discussion about where to go in 2020 o If we grow, we can rent workshop space at Convention ctr, or at Marriott Discussion about east side versus west side In the future, structure the day so that those within 50 mile have early start and late events Could we do this in Fall of 2020, instead of spring because of busy-ness of this time of year, graduation? o Decision to survey our participants: When do they feel the best time for future conference? Passing the Gavel Damon and Matt Matt Campbell recognized Damon Bell for her leadership in 2016-2017, and presented a “gavel” plaque of recognition. Liaison assignments: CESC: Really wants highly engaged liaison, wants someone steeped in Guided Pathways work o Rosie volunteers ARC, Ruby (continuing) ACC, Jess (continuing) CWP, Rosie (continuing) DSS, Deb (as nominated by DSS per change in liaison) FAC, Christina (continuing) MSSDC, Ata (continuing) CUSP, Erin, (continuing unless someone else is interested in stepping up) Deb: Sent us recommendations from DSSC for accommodations in events and conferences Developed a survey to be sent to all commissions and councils Goes out at end of May We need to push this out to councils Created a Webinar (to be offered 2x) to train for how to offer accommodations in your meetings, will be in June and in October Will recommend to DSSC that WSSSC will pilot the recommendations for all events conferences and meetings that we hold, we will share our experience with the other commissions May: Survey June: 1st run of webinar tot rain October: 2nd run of webinar to train Recommendations WSSSC Executive Board President: Damon Bell, Olympic College President Elect: Matt Campbell, Pierce College- Puyallup Secretary: Rosie Rimando-Chareunsap, South Seattle College Treasurer: Jose da Silva, Walla Walla Community College Immediate Past President: Deb Casey, Green River College Members-at-large: Christina Castorena, Edmonds Community College & Ata Karim, Bellevue College WSSSC serve as pilot for the recommendations, with reflection after 17-18 of our experience, and we field Qs from other commissions/councils throughout systems Would apply to anything we do or host throughout our system, meetings, conferences, professional developments Toni: Seattle University SDA program Seeking PT or stipend employment for their grad students 10-20 hours/wk, or 15/20 hour Good chance to diversify staff Erin: WCTC Student Association They want to restructure, to look more like WSA (4 years), where they want to establish as non-profit, with SBCTC and CUSP rep CUSP has oversight, the new model would have rep on their board They looking to be more organized Bringing it to their general assembly soon to vote on it CUSP is trying to encourage them to talk to their constituents, their advisors, CUSP, etc. Key considerations for WSSSC members: They want a paid Exec Director All colleges pay S&A fees into the system Will take some time to implement Jose: Be mindful of our topics for joint IC/WSSSC meeting Toni recommended Rachel Alicia Griffin to do an Inclusive Excellence workshop with the group as a way to look at bigger picture/systemic issues to address together such as: FERPA concerns in LMS, needing to separate sections to enable student protections ID Macro collaborative issues Motion proposed by Ata Karim: WSSSC recommends invite Dr. Rachel Alicia Griffin to do a combined session on Inclusive Excellence with IC in our joint summer meeting.
