MOSCOT, the Iconic New York City “ORIGINALS LIVE ON IN THE MOSCOT FALL-WINTER 2019 CAMPAIGN” NEW YORK, AUGUST 20, 2019 - MOSCOT, the iconic New York City eyewear institution, introduces a new collection of MOSCOT Originals and MOSCOT Spirit optical and sunglass frames for Fall-Winter 2019. Now in its 104th year, the family-owned and operated eyewear brand presents a collection and campaign inspired by the legacy of originals that live on. After over a century in downtown NYC, MOSCOT has seen many evolutions, but the constant appreciation of classic design and original form continues to endure. Staying true to the family heritage and generational legacy, the new Fall-Winter campaign captures moments of father & daughter duo Frank Ferrer, of Guns N’ Roses, and his daughter, model, musician & MOSCOT team member Olivia Ferrer. Shot on location in and around MOSCOT’s Lower East Side flagship shop, where living history is still alive and well, MOSCOT pays homage to the past with an eye on the future. Featured in the campaign are like-minded establishments: TR Crandall Guitars, I Need More, Strand Book Store, and the mom-and-pop shops that are the building blocks New York City was founded upon. The original downtown NYC story comes to life with 6 bold new frames consisting of a rich palette with tones of butterscotch, tortoise, black, and combinations of matte & shiny metal finishes. Many of the new styles play on perspective – The TELENA and The FRITZ, for example, are thick & chunky from the front at first glance, yet unexpectedly slim and sleek in profile. The Originals live on! The Fall-Winter 2019 MOSCOT Collection: FRITZ Features: Made from thin sheet acetate laminate with two dot rivets on the temples, a saddle bridge, and real five barrel hinges. Sunglasses have real glass lenses. The Story: Sol’s lawyer, Fritz, was an eccentric guy, built with many layers. While he was unyielding and tough when dispensing legal advice, he didn’t have a bad side. Designed with an air of strength to make a bold statement, FRITZ is the frame, no matter how you look at it. LES Features: Made from acetate with two dot rivets on the temples, a key hole bridge, real three barrel hinges, and signature end caps. The Story: Where PETIE meets JARED, LES can be found! Soft, but with a bit of an edge, the LES has character and wit that makes a statement all on its own…just like the notorious streets of the Lower East Side. At MOSCOT, LES really is more! LOREN Features: Made from acetate with two dot rivets on the front and temples, a saddle nose bridge, real three barrel hinges, and signature end caps. The Story: Just like the smooth talkin’ VILDA, The LOREN is charming and sophisticated. A slimmer twin, The LOREN imitates the feel of the Original yet makes a name all on its own. Call it a slimitation, if you will. MISH Features: Made from metal featuring matte and shiny finishes, intricate skiving on the temples, acetate temple tips, and silicone nose pads. Sunglasses have real glass lenses. The Story: Inspired by Sol’s 1957 trip to Cuba, The MISH has all the glitz of the late-night party scene in Havana, with all the glamour of the Upper West Side of Manhattan. MISH runs the town from day to night, and goes perfectly with a linen suit and a Cuba Libre. NOODGE Features: Semi-rimless aviator, made from brushed metal, featuring a double-bar bridge, acetate temple tips, and color coordinating titanium nose pads. Story: One of a kind Lower East Side cat, Johnny loved to rev his stripped down Harley over from Clinton Street to visit The Moscots at the Orchard Street Shop. With an unmistakable edge, yet notorious charm, Johnny was an underground legend. This semi-rimless aviator embodies just that.
