GOPALAKRISHNAN: Will the Minister of HOUSING & URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has granted approval and released funds for implementing a number of urban infrastructure projects of Tamil Nadu; (b) if so, the details thereof along with the funds allocated/released for the said purpose during the last three years and the current year, city-wise including Madurai city in Tamil Nadu; and (c) the present status of those projects and the steps taken/being taken for expediting these projects? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) IN THE MINISTRY OF HOUSING & URBAN AFFAIRS (SHRI HARDEEP SINGH PURI) (a) to (c) Yes Madam. The Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs has approved and released funds for implementing urban infrastructure projects in Tamil Nadu under its various schemes, viz., Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), Smart Cities Mission (SCM), Page 1 of 2 Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY), Swacchh Bharat Mission – Urban [SBM (U)], Urban Infrastructure Development in Satellite Towns around Seven Mega Cities (UIDSST), Urban Transport (UT), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban [PMAY (U)] and Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM). Under AMRUT, the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs does not approve projects for individual cities but accords approval to the State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs) only. Selection, approval and implementation of individual projects is done by State Government. Further, the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs does not release central share of funds city-wise, but funds are released State-wise.

Members, it is with great sense of anguish and shock that we have learnt of the untimely demise of Mr. Hugo Chavez, President of Venezuela on the 5th March, 2013. Mr. Hugo Chavez was a popular and charismatic leader of Venezuela who always strived for uplifting the underprivileged masses. We cherish our close relationship with Venezuela which was greatly strengthened under the leadership of President Chavez. We deeply mourn the loss of Mr. Hugo Chavez and I am sure the House would join me in conveying our condolences to the bereaved family and the people of Venezuela and in wishing them strength to bear this irreparable loss. We stand by the people of Venezuela in their hour of grief. THE MINISTER OF DEFENCE (SHRI RAJ NATH SINGH) responding to the issue raised by several hon. Members, said: It is not that the farmers have been pushed to the pitiable condition over the past four to five years alone. The miserable condition of the farmers is largely attributed to those who have been in power for long. I, however, want to place on record that our Government has been making every effort to double the farmers' income. We have enhanced the Minimum Support Price and did take a decision to provide an amount of Rs.6000/- to each and every farmer under Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana irrespective of the parcel of land under his possession and have brought it into force. Members may kindly let us know immediately the choice of language (Hindi or English) for obtaining Synopsis of Lok Sabha Debates. initiative has led to increase in farmers' income by 20 to 25 per cent. THE MINISTER OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS AND MINISTER OF OVERSEAS INDIAN AFFAIRS (SHRIMATI SUSHMA SWARAJ): On the issue which was raised yesterday in the House, I, with utmost responsibility and categorically and equivocally would like to inform this House that the Government of India has no connection to the visit by Shri Ved Prakash Vaidik to Pakistan or his meeting with Hafiz Saeed there. Neither before leaving for Pakistan nor at his arrival there, he informed the Government that he was to meet Hafiz Saeed there. This was his purely private visit and meeting. It has been alleged here that he was somebody‟s emissary, somebody‟s disciple or the Government of India had facilitated the meeting. This is totally untrue as well as unfortunate.     LOK SABHA ___ SYNOPSIS OF DEBATES (Proceedings other than Questions & Answers) ______ Thursday, March 12, 2015 / Phalguna 21, 1936 (Saka) ______ OBITUARY REFERENCE HON'BLE SPEAKER: I have to inform the House about the sad demise of two former members Shri Ram Sunder Das and Shri Dadashivrao Dadoba Mandlik. Shri Ram Sunder Das was a member of the Tenth and Fifteenth Lok Sabhas representing the Hajipur Parliamentary Constituency of Bihar. Shri Ram Sunder Das served as a Member of the Business Advisory Committee; General Purposes Committee and Committee on Energy during the Fifteenth Lok Sabha. Earlier, Shri Ram Sunder Das served as the Chief Minister of Bihar from April, 1979 to February, 1980. He was also a member of Bihar Legislative Council from 1968 to 1977 and Bihar Legislative Assembly from 1977 to 1980. Shri Ram Sunder Das passed away on 6 march, 2015 in Patna at the age of 94. Shri Sadashivrao Dadoba Mandlik was a member of the Twelfth, Thirteenth, Fourteenth and Fifteenth Lok Sabhas representing the Kolhapur Parliamentary Constituency of Maharashtra. An able parliamentarian, Shri Mandlik served as a member of various parliamentary committees during his long and active career. Earlier, Shri Mandlik was a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for four terms from 1972 to 1978 and 1968 to 19998 and served as Minister of State, irrigation, Education and Resettlement in the Government of Maharashtra from 1993 to 1995. Shri Sadashivrao Dadoba Mandlik passed away on 10th March, 2015, 2015 in Kolhapur, Maharashtra at the age of 80. We deeply mourn the loss of our former colleagues and I am sure the House would join me in conveying our condolences to the bereaved families.
