LOK SABHA ___ SYNOPSIS OF DEBATES (Proceedings other than Questions & Answers) ______ Tuesday, July 15, 2014 / Ashadha 24, 1936 (Saka) ______ STATEMENT BY MINISTER Re: Reported meeting of an Indian journalist with Hafiz Saeed in Pakistan. THE MINISTER OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS AND MINISTER OF OVERSEAS INDIAN AFFAIRS (SHRIMATI SUSHMA SWARAJ): On the issue which was raised yesterday in the House, I, with utmost responsibility and categorically and equivocally would like to inform this House that the Government of India has no connection to the visit by Shri Ved Prakash Vaidik to Pakistan or his meeting with Hafiz Saeed there. Neither before leaving for Pakistan nor at his arrival there, he informed the Government that he was to meet Hafiz Saeed there. This was his purely private visit and meeting. It has been alleged here that he was somebody‟s emissary, somebody‟s disciple or the Government of India had facilitated the meeting. This is totally untrue as well as unfortunate. I would like to reiterate that the Government of India has no relation to it whatsoever. *MATTERS UNDER RULE 377 (i) SHRI BHARAT SINGH laid a statement regarding need to start work on multipurpose project for development of various facilities in Ballia Parliamentary constituency, Uttar Pradesh. This compendium will provide a glimpse of the events and technological upgradation over last 80 years since inception of this committee. As very old records were not available easily, efforts have been made to collect as much records for the ESC, particularly for pre-independence period. Initially separate ESC meetings used to be held for General Services and Traction. From 49th ESC onward, which was held in January’1999 at Pune, a decision was taken to convene a common ESC meeting for all items of Electrical department. This compendium will be updated regularly so that all the records are available at one place.

  • Railway Budget 07-08 Speech of Shri Lalu Prasad
Railway Budget 07-08 Speech of Shri Lalu Prasad February 26, 2007 Introducing the Railway Budget 2007-2008 Mr Speaker Sir, Presenting my fourth consecutive Railway Budget, I have a tremendous sense of pride and gratitude. Pride in the fact that without imposing undue burden on the common man, the Railways are poised to create history by generating a cash surplus before Dividend of Rs 20,000 cr as against Rs 14,700 cr in the previous year. This is the same Railway that defaulted on payment of Dividend and whose fund balances dipped to Rs 359 cr in 2001. I express heartfelt gratitude towards 14 lakh railway employees who in the face of stiff competition have conquered all odds with an indomitable spirit displaying matchless zeal, vigour and teamwork. Sir, Lord Krishna was acclaimed as Giridhar when in a moment of crisis he lifted Mount Govardhan on his finger. However, he did this with the supporting hands of thousands of fellow villagers. Even though people are giving me the credit for the turnaround of the Railways, with all humility I would like to share with the august House that this miracle has been brought about through the tireless efforts of 14 lakh railway employees and unbounded affection and support of my country men. Sir, I would just say: Navajis hai sabki, karam hai sabhi ka, Bade fakhra se ham bulandi par aaye. Tarakki ke sare mayaron se aage, Naye dhang laaye, nayee soch laaye. 2 By rendering an unprecedented surplus inspite of the reduction in passenger fares, we have disproved the myth that Railways were sinking in to a financial crisis due to social obligations.

THE MINISTER OF DEFENCE (SHRI RAJ NATH SINGH) responding to the issue raised by several hon. Members, said: It is not that the farmers have been pushed to the pitiable condition over the past four to five years alone. The miserable condition of the farmers is largely attributed to those who have been in power for long. I, however, want to place on record that our Government has been making every effort to double the farmers' income. We have enhanced the Minimum Support Price and did take a decision to provide an amount of Rs.6000/- to each and every farmer under Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana irrespective of the parcel of land under his possession and have brought it into force. This * Hon. Members may kindly let us know immediately the choice of language (Hindi or English) for obtaining Synopsis of Lok Sabha Debates. initiative has led to increase in farmers' income by 20 to 25 per cent. • Chapter VI 1
Chapter VI The Strike and its Impact in the Northeast Frontier Railways This chapter discusses the causes and developments leading to the strike and the developments related to the strike in the Northeastern Frontier Railways. The N.F Railway’s authority had never headed to the demands of the workers hence the grievances were never redressed. As a result of this the workers were aggrieved. The result was the eruption of various types of labour unrests throughout the N.F Railways. In this chapter we concentrate on the situation of the N.F Railways in the period of the strike. The consequence of the strike in this zone was deep and diverse. Therefore the chapter examines the impact of the struggle of 1974 in N.F Railways. The chapter is divided into three sections. The first section has focussed its attention on the grievances of railwaymen in N.F Railways. In this section we also look at how the workers of N. F. Railway along with the other zones had prepared themselves for the general strike. The second section of the study discusses the strike situation throughout the N.F. Railway Zone. It summarises the developments that took place in the entire N.F. Railways in this period. The third section analyses the impact of the strike in the N.F. Railways as the struggle had a long term effect both economically and politically. 1 Grievances of the N.F Railway Workers and their Preparations for the Strike In this section of the study we begin with a brief history of the N.F Railways.

  • Indian Railways Budget Speech 1988-89 480 Speech of Shri
Indian Railways Budget Speech 1988-89 Speech of Shri Madhavrao Scindia Introducing the Railway Budget, 1988-89 on 24 th february, 1988 Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise to present the Revised Estimates for the year 1987-88 and Budget Estimates for the year 1988-89 for the Indian Railways. Introduction 2. It was gratifying for us in the Railways to have received continued support and encouragement from Honourable Members from all sections of the House, and ever-increasing co-operation from members of the public. This served to enthuse and inspire Railwaymen to new heights in the year 1986-87, and in the current year 1987-88. 2.1 The best productivity indicator of freight operations, Net Tonne Kilometres per Wagon per Day, which had increased to 1296 (BG), in 1985-86, reached a new high when it touched 1420 in the year 1986-87-- an improvement of as much as 10%. 1350 was the target for the terminal year of the 7th Plan. I am happy to say, we have steamed way past this figure three years ahead of time. It has enabled the Indian Railways to retain the position it had achieved last year as a world leader in freight capacity utilisation, leaving behind countries even in the developed world. Members will appreciate the magnitude of the increased freight transport effort when I state that with only a very marginal increase in the wagon fleet, the first two years of the 7th Plan together, have produced an additional 41.1 billion net tonne kilometres. This has surpassed by as much as 56% in these two years alone, the transport increase of 26.2 billion in the entire five year period taken together, of the 6th Plan.

(ii) SHRI BHANU PRATAP SINGH VERMA laid a statement regarding need to extend Shram Shakti Express running between New Delhi to Kanpur upto Jhansi. (iii) SHRIMATI JAYSHREEBEN PATEL laid a statement regarding need to expedite development of National Highway No. 228 declared as a Dandi Heritage route. (iv) SHRI DEVJI M. PATEL laid a statement regarding need to provide better railway connectivity in Jalore Parliamentary Constituency in Rajasthan.
