I asked all of the 1st grade teachers questions about what they did so far this school year, how well-behaved their classes are, what are the cool things they have been doing in class, and which Special is the favorite of their students. Here is what Mr. Sciecinski said… “We learned a lot academically, but also how to be a good person and to help others. Is the sky blue? Of course it is! My students are always well-behaved!!! My class is excited about our aquarium field trip, Field Day, and other end-of-the-year activities. We just made real terrariums, complete with pill bags and bottles. All my students like every Special! I like all Specials too!” Here is what Mrs. Novotny said… “We learned about a lot of great things this year including clouds, the weather, adding and subtracting two-digit numbers, graphs, and Geometry. We also learned strategies to become better readers. Although we are all anxious to get out and enjoy the nice weather, we all are well-behaved in class. We will be visiting the aquarium this year which everyone is very excited about, including me. Favorite activities of my students are Centers, learning how to tell time, and of course, the aquarium trip! Favorite Specials depends on which student you ask. Every Special is great, but I think Math is the best subject!” Here is what Mrs. Schlesing said… “We learned to become really good readers and writers this year in first grade. Spring fever is here, but I am happy to say that mainly the students are concentrating on making good choices and being well-behaved in class. Everyone is very excited about the trip to the Adventure Aquarium. Favorite class activities this year were learning a vowel dance, body spell, movement breaks, Centers, and Fun Friday, if we earned it. Gym is the favorite Special of my class, and Writing is the favorite academic subject of my students.” ISSUE 4 THE PENNELL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NEWSPAPER PAGE 2 Th e Super Second Grade!
