It’s really exciting to see where we’ve come with tapware in the past few years. Previously there was only chrome, then there was a slow evolution to black, and now in the past 18 months we’re seeing the introduction of coloured options. You can pretty much get anything you want, and with the softer colours – the golds, nickels and stainless steel – you can make a stunning change without feeling you’re going too far out.

2. TECHNOLOGY

Whether it’s the way toilets are now flushing or how we’re seeing lighting evolve in our bathrooms, you can’t go past technology and what we’re doing these days. Things like lights in drawers and toilet seats – you really don’t have to have full, bright lights in a bathroom anymore, instead lighting is being used to not only create ambience but offer a safety element as well.

3. TEXTURE

I love the texture that is coming into our bathrooms – particularly with the trend towards wood and nature elements. It’s mainly happening around the vanities, and with the colour choices available you can create a really showstopping piece. Also we’re now thinking about how the vanities match the tapware and ensuring all those materials, colours and textures work together.

4. THE NEW FUNCTION

I like the way the products are evolving based on what our needs are – so limitations really are removed. We don’t feel we can’t put a bath in a space because it’s too small; there isn’t that sense something simply isn’t possible.
