Travels with Sandi Hidden Treasures of Le Marche
Travels with Sandi Hidden Treasures of Le Marche A Regional Discovery Tour September 24th - October 2nd 2021 Marche is one of the twenty regions of Italy. It is situated roughly half way down the east coast of the country, bound to the west by the Apennine Mountains and to the east by the Adriatic Sea. It is also an undiscovered jewel. Its neighbors to the north and west (Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany and Umbria) enjoy a booming tourist industry, while Marche sits in rural tranquility, happily devoid of the convoys of tourist coaches clogging up the countryside. Marche has managed to retain its agricultural and rural nature through to this new millennium – no mean feat in this modern age. And therein lies the beauty and charm of the region. It has not always been so. In Renaissance times, the city of Urbino rivalled Florence in its artistic and cultural reputation (Raphael came from Urbino). Pesaro was the birthplace of Rossini and the Holy Roman Emperor, Frederick II, was born in Jesi. This itinerary was a result of a project created by Fiona Bennett and her senior students and funded by the European Union. With the idea of promoting tourism to the region, five itineraries were created each researched by the students and in consultation with Discover Europe who had agreed to help and advise. Out of the 5 excellent itineraries proposed this The Marche one was selected. Making our base in one hotel for the entire trip (see details on the fabulous Castello di Monterado on page 3 of this brochure), Marche is the perfect destination for those who want to expe- rience the real Italy, away from the tourist throngs. -

European Commission
EUROPEAN COMMISSION MEMO Brussels, 23 July 2014 State Aid: further details on Commission decisions regarding public financing of airports and airlines in Germany, France and Austria (See also IP/14/863). Today, the Commission has taken six decisions under EU state aid rules with regard to public aid measures to airports and airlines relating to three airports in Germany (Dortmund, Leipzig/Halle and Niederrhein-Weeze) and three airports in France (Angoulême, Pau Pyrénées and Nîmes). It has also extended the scope of its formal investigation in relation to Klagenfurt airport in Austria. Since the beginning of 2014, the Commission had already finalised its assessment in eleven other cases concerning public aid measures to airlines and airports.1 Public interventions in companies carrying out economic activities can be considered free of state aid within the meaning of EU rules when they are carried out on terms that a private player, operating in a market economy, would have accepted (the market economy operator principle – MEOP). If the MEOP is complied with, the measure confers no advantage to the company and therefore involves no state aid. If the MEOP is not complied with, the measure involves state aid and the Commission then examines whether it can be found compatible with the EU's Single Market. This means that the Commission checks whether the measure complies with common EU rules that allow granting aid for projects furthering goals of common interest, such as EU transport or cohesion policy objectives, under certain conditions. The assessment criteria for public interventions in airports and airlines are set out in the Commission's Aviation Guidelines, adopted in February 2014 (see IP/14/172, MEMO/14/121 and, for more details, policy brief. -

Monograph with Memories – Album About the Village German – Prespa Region
Monograph with Memories – Album About the Village German – Prespa Region By The Organising Committee for the Residents of the Village German Translated By Elizabeth Kolupacev Stewart 1 Publisher – The organising committee for the residents of the village German: 1. Mitre J Kajchevski 2. Aleksandar G Karlovski, professor 3. Risto N Maljanovski 4. Pando K Kajchevski [Extract from Foreword] The editors, with the help of oral history from villagers, have assembled this book. The Monograph is dedicated to the 30th anniversary and the 5th traditional celebration of German villagers held in Trnovo on 20/5/79. Translator – Monograph with Memories – Album About the Village German – Prespa Region was translated from the Macedonian by Elizabeth Kolupacev Stewart. 2 A Short Historical Sketch of German From as early as the 7th century slavs settled the Balkan Peninsula and a part of them settled in Macedonia. Beautiful Macedonia with its many passes, river plains, and four big rivers: Vardar, Struma, Bistrica and Mesta, beautiful mountains and lakes, attracted the families: Brsjaci, Sagurati, Velegeziti, Rinhini, Strumjani, Smoljani etc to settle this beautiful Macedonian land and they took up agriculture, raising livestock, hunting and fishing in the abundant rivers and many lakes. Macedonia is the only Balkan country with so many lakes so it is no surprise that they called it a lake‐country. It is historically recognised that a part of the large Brsjak tribe settled Prespa, that tame, beautiful and bountiful part which mother nature richly bestowed with many mountains, green pastures, flower covered meadows, varied forests and clear mountain springs. Nature determined the future occupation of the residents – agriculture, livestock raising, forestry and fishing. -
Bulgarian Teachers of the Liberation Age
News, Announcements and Resources Biomath Communications 3 (2016) Biomath Communications www.biomathforum.org/biomath/index.php/conference Bulgarian teachers of the liberation age Maria K. Lovdjieva Museum \Petko and Pencho Slaveikovi", Sofia email: [email protected] Dedicated to the memory of Nestor Markov on the occasion of his 180th birthday anniversary Abstract When browsing through the biographies of the generation of Bulgarian teachers who lived and worked in the years around the liberation-bringing Russo-Turkish war (1877{1878), we see the clear outlines of the impediments blocking the education and development endeavors of the young Bulgarian state. Five centuries after it had been engulfed by the Ottoman empire and severed from European cul- ture, Bulgaria was far behind the times. In this article we review the activities of eleven Bulgarian teachers who lived and worked around the time of liberation from the Ottoman rule. Their lives and activi- ties on the borderline of two epochs strike us with their self-sacrificial efforts to overcome the enormous backwardness of the Bulgarian na- tion. We point out their contribution in the spheres of education and science. The biographies of these Bulgarian teachers present a vivid picture of the times and are an edifying subject to study and remem- ber. Introduction The history of the Bulgarian state, stretching from its establishment Citation: Maria K. Lovdjieva, Bulgarian teachers of the liberation age, http://dx.doi.org/10.11145/bmc.2016.12.237 in the seventh century to the present day, is a chain of upheavals and downfalls. Bulgaria, of all modern European states, is the oldest coun- try to have preserved its name. -

Tanya Chavdarova Prof. Dr. Daniel Vachkov 2 INTRODUCTION This dissertation is about the long and difficult first meeting of Bulgarians with modernity. In our literature, this period is known as the National Revival (Vazrajdane), a powerful impetus to break with the old and turn to new, "European" role models. According to a tradition established by generations of researchers, the story of Vazrajdane so far has gone almost exclusively through the struggle for the national liberation, for the autocephalic church, and for the modern Bulgarian education and culture. -
