In an effort to draw attention to unnecessary violence and unease, Womyn for Womyn organized a Take Back the Night march. These marches take place in communities all over the country and have been used as a statement In the fight for a woman's right to a safe en- vironment since the '70s. Due to the foul weather, the march was moved indoors to room 114 in Business Administration. Over SO people attended and were able to hear speakers concerned about the safety of women in this communi- ty. "Let me light a candle," began Kara Jennings, a representative from The Link. "This fire can be a symbol of our anger, our energy and our determination to fight." Jennings brought with her the Clothesline Project. The Clothesline Project is a collection of shirts decorated by women who were vic- tims of violence. The local branch has 30 shirts and there are over 250 in the statewide Clothesline Project. The national collection numbers in the thousands. Different colors symbolize different forms of violence.
