Mycosphere 10(1), 310–489, Doi 10.5943/mycosphere/10/1/7 Abstract Leotiomycetes is regarded as the inoperculate class of discomycetes within the phylum Ascomycota. Taxa are mainly characterized by asci with a simple pore blueing in Melzer’s reagent, although some taxa have lost this character. The monophyly of this class has been verified in several recent molecular studies. However, circumscription of the orders, families and generic level delimitation are still unsettled. This paper provides a modified backbone tree for the class Leotiomycetes based on phylogenetic analysis of combined ITS, LSU, SSU, TEF, and RPB2 loci. In the phylogenetic analysis, Leotiomycetes separates into 19 clades, which can be recognized as orders and order-level clades. -

Sixteen species belonging to 14 genera of discomycetes were recorded from tropical Guangxi, China, of which Dicephalospora dam ingshan ica, Dicephalospora pinglongshanica, and LamberteIla caudatoides are described as new species. Morphological features of a collection reported as Arachnopeziza cf. cornuta are discussed. Kew words: Dicephalospora damingshanica, Dicephalospora pinglongshanica, LamberteIla caudatoides Introduction Since previous reports of discomycetes from tropical Guangxi (Zhuang, 1998, 1999, in prep.), additional specimens have been identified and new species found. The known records of discomycetes in Guangxi show that Damingshan, Wuming County has the highest species diversity in December compared with other areas explored. This is quite possibly due to the very high humidity at the elevations of 700-1300 m where specimens were collected. In this paper, sixteen species belonging to 14 genera of both inopercu1ate and operculate discomycetes, which have not been recorded from Guangxi are reported. This includes 3 new species in Dicephalospora and Lambertella. Morphological features of Arachnopeziza cf. cortuna are discussed. Taxonomy 1. Arachnopeziza -

Bionectria truncata has smooth perithecia of a flattened to shallow discoid apex, clavate asci with an apical ring, and ellipsoid, smooth to spinulose ascospores. Calonectria dicephalospora is characterized by pyriform perithecia with a warted surface, clavate asci with a simple apex and long, narrow stalk, and fusoid ascospores with a cap-like appendage at each end. Haematonectria lushanensis possesses warted perithecia which are laterally collapsing when dry, cylindrical asci with a simple apex, and ellipsoid, spinulose ascospores. Neonectria dinghushanica is dis- tinguishable by subglobose perithecia with a warted surface, clavate asci, and striate ascospores. Morphological features of these new species are described comprehensively and compared with their related fungi. Neonectria castaneicola is recorded as new to China. Hymenoscyphus serotinus and H. lepismoides sp. nov., two lignicolous species with a high host specificity Hans-Otto BARAL Summary: Hymenoscyphus serotinus is a rather well-known and common species which, in its restricted Martin BEMMANN sense, was so far recorded only within Europe, where it fruits exclusively in late autumn and early winter on externally blackened wood of twigs and thin branches of Fagus. Despite its rather characteristic, long and slender, curved (comma-shaped) ascospores, the species was not rarely confused in the past with other Eu- ropean lignicolous taxa: either with H. calyculus, from which it was thought to be insufficiently separated, or Ascomycete.org, 5 (4) : 109-128. with an undescribed species that likewise fruits in late autumn on blackened wood though of Carpinus, and Octobre 2013 is here described as a new species, H. lepismoides. This differs from H. serotinus in longer and wider, straigh- Mise en ligne le 20/10/2013 ter spores, which are provided by prominent terminal setulae, and also in the absence of croziers at the ascus base. Apart from this and some other misinterpretations, Hymenoscyphus serotinus was considered by various au- thors as a foliicolous taxon, mainly outside Europe. One of these records, on unidentified skeletonized leaves from Jilin (China), was reinvestigated in the present study and considered to be related to, though not conspecific with, H. vacini, a European species confined to skeletonized leaves ofAcer . D. albolutea, D. shennongjiana, and D. yunnanica. All of them lack mucilaginous caps at ascospore poles. Dicephalospora albolutea is distinguished by cream to yellowish white apothecia and slightly curved ascospores. Dicephalospora shennongjiana is characterized by yellow apothecia, elliptical-fusoid ascospores 19−22 × 7−8.8 μm, and J+ asci 130−150 × 14−16.5 μm. Dicephalospora yunnanica is distinguished by orange apothecia and fusoid ascospores 16.5−25.3 × 3.3−3.5 μm. Descriptions and illustrations of the new species as well as a key to the known species in the genus are provided. These include Cudoniella, Geniculospora, Helicodendron Graddonia, Halenospora, Mycofalcella, Spirosphaera, and Tricladium. Solenopeziaceae is confined to the genera new taxa Lasiobelonium, Solenopezia, Trichopeziza, and Trichopezizella, all of which have a sexual morph having apothecia Tricladium varicosporoides with smooth-walled hairs. This taxonomy is supported by a multi-gene analysis using up to 15 genes, with a few of the taxa placed on the basis of a separate ITS phylogeny. Tricladiaceae forms a monophyletic clade with a basal sister relationship toPleuroascaceae plus Helotiaceae; Solenopeziaceae forms a monophyletic clade with a basal sister relationship to Lachnaceae.
