From the Teacher Brooke Costaganna Why harmony Day is special for the community

armony Day is a day of recognising cultural diversity and a day of celebration at Hour school every year. At St Bernadette’s Primary School in Lalor Park over 60% of our students speak English as their second language with many families having migrated to our beautiful country that we call home. This year we hosted our third Harmony Day and for the first time Western Sydney Wanderers have come on board. It began as a very small event with a few parents bringing in food that is native to their culture to share with students and fellow families and has grown into a full day of celebration. For 2016, students all wore orange or traditional dress for a gold coin donation as we held a liturgy, a cultural dance We are one, But workshop and a huge fiesta lunch that WE ARE MANY included our annual piñata. after just 34 seconds. Melbourne would of course claim the double that season. The previous campaign, it looked as though had etched their name on the Premier’s Plate as early as Round 13 when they beat Melbourne Victory 3-0 away from home. The performance was dubbed one of the most emphatically impressive in Hyundai A-League history given the greatness of the rivalry at the time and the breathtaking manner in which Roar simply swept away a team who were ostensibly one of their closest competitors for silverware. The Wanderers need to conjure a Premier’s Plate winning moment of similar significance to reaffirm their standing as the finest team in the country, something that galvanizes the squad before the final month of the regular season. Titles are won or lost on such moments, and there has never been a greater need for the Wanderers to produce something of Haliti’s ilk than now with the competition’s form team on their doorstep. The Reds keep winning and a win tonight would not only be significant in the scheme of the title race but it would give Adelaide their first ever win at Wanderland: something that would provide an immense psychological boost heading into April and the finals series. While Western Sydney has scored one more goal than Adelaide the same amount of goals (38), the Reds have the best defence in the league and have only conceded 26 times compared to the Wanderers’ 30. So how does Western Sydney beat Adelaide? Firstly they’ll need to break down the best defence in the league. Luckily Western Sydney hasn’t had too many issues getting past backlines this season. Mark Bridge and Mitch Nichols have linked up fabulously to score 18 times between the two of them while Brendon Santalab has hit multiple match winning goals from the bench.
