CTRG_2015introduction.indd 3 18/05/2015 12:02:33 PM Canadian Tourism Resource Guide Welcome to edition thirteen of what has come to be the ‘go to’ reference source for Canadian travel agents looking for Canadian experiences to present to their clients. The domestic market is the biggest source of visitors to tourism accommodation, transportation and attractions operators. Making an investment to reach the domestic market is just good business. Given that the Canadian Tourism Resource Guide also reaches a wide audience of international buyers makes the publication and web site especially worthwhile. We’ve seen a lot of changes over the past 10+ years. What began as primarily a hardcopy reference source supported by a web site has evolved into a presentation suite (web + print + digital) each used differently but at the same time complementing one another. For example, we have found that while readers like the tactile characteristics of a printed book, when quick access to a particular destination, attraction or supplier is paramount nothing beats the quick search features available at www.canadiantourismguide.ca. Similarly when reaching out to international tourism buyers, presenting Canada’s suppliers and destinations can best be communicated by emailing the digital edition to readers overseas. Once reading the digital edition with its many references to www. canadiantourismguide.ca the international readers too, quickly learn that the searchable web site gives them fastest access to the information they need. This year on the product side we are pleased to feature many of the Signature Experience suppliers welcoming Canadians and visitors alike to Canada’s north. As someone who began his career in travel and tourism in Yukon, the north holds a special place in my heart. A big ‘thank you’ to the destination marketing organizations of Manitoba, Nunavut and Saskatchewan who worked with us to make certain that all of their Signature Experience suppliers were included. In 2015 we increased the number of destinations and suppliers using the video link facility. When you see the VIEW MOVIE icon with the rotating movie reels it’s a very visible indicator that there is lots more to see and learn – just a click away. We’ll be encouraging the increased use of this application at www.canadiantourismguide.ca in the months ahead. Take a look – try it out. Baxter Travel Media is Canada’s largest publisher to the travel trade. More circulation, wider distribution using multiple channels to market, and a willingness to work with you to achieve results for your business are only some of the reasons we encourage you to contact us.
