TARMANN Abstract: The Vine Bud Moth or European Grapeleaf Skeletonizer Theresimima ampellophaga (BAYLE-BARELLE 1808) - reappearence of a vine pest? The Vine Bud Moth or European Grapleaf Skeletonizer Theresimima ampellophaga (BAYLE- BARELLE 1808) was thought to be under control for many years. The last harmful infestations are recorded from Hungary in 1954 (ISSEKUTZ 1957a, 1957b). Only a few records are known from later years. A possible reason for the decline of populations may be found in more effective use of pesticide and insecticide. In 1990 Th. ampellophaga was rediscovered on Crimea (Ukraine) after almost 50 years of absence (EFETOV 1990b). For the first time the larvae were found on decorative vines (Parthenocissus). Between 1990 and 1997 the Vine Bud Moth spread all over southern Crimea and has developed very strong populations. This fact leads to the conclusion that neighbouring countries might be in immediate danger. The present paper gives an overview about historical and recent observations of Th. ampellophaga with special emphasis to the situation on Crimea. Pheromone recognition and pest control methods are mentioned. The systematic position and the historical and recent geographical distributions are discussed.

Summary : Studies on molecular phylogenies of Butterflies and Burnets have been increasingly frequent in the recent years, changing the systematics and taxonomy of these two groups. A full update has been performed in this work.

Despite the proximity of Sredna Gora Mountains to Sofia, the insect assemblages of this region are poorly studied. As a result of two studies carried out as a part of an Environmental Impact Assessment in the Natura 2000 Protected Areas: Sredna Gora and Popintsi, a rich diversity of insects was discovered, with 107 saproxylic and epigeobiont Coleoptera species and 355 Lepidoptera species recorded. This research was conducted during a short one-season field study in the surrounding areas of the town of Panagyurishte and Oborishte Village. Special attention was paid to protected species and their conservation status. Of the Coleoptera recorded, 22 species were of conservation significance. Forty-five Lepidoptera species of conservation importance were also recorded. KEY WORDS.WORDS. The Turquoise Blue – Polyommatus dorylas (Denis et Schiffermüller, 1775) is a critically endangered butterfly in the Czech Republic, and most of Europe. We report here the rediscovery of this butterfly in the foothills of Vsetínské Vrchy Mts., Czech (=Western) Carpathians: Halenkov vill. part Lušová (6674b) in 2009. The area is well-covered by butterfly recording, so it seems that the species has either existed in extremely small populations there, or, alternatively, has recently re-colonized the area from nearby Slovakia.

Abstract. The R- and S-enantiomers of 2-butyl (7Z)-dodecenoate (alone or in mixtures), recently identified in the natural extracts of Illiberis rotundata pheromone glands, were used as lures in sticky traps to study the occurrence of Procridinae species in Italy in 14 localities during 2010 and 2011.

Shin Konchu 11 (12): 43, 4 figs. BUTTERFLY COLLECTING AT THE TIME OF A SOLAR ECLIPSE by JOSEF MOUCHA National Museum, Praha, CZECHOLOVAKIA June 30th 1954 was the day of a remarkable partial solar eclipse. This day I collected near the village of Cejkov near the Slovak-Hungarian frontier (SE of the town of Kosice, E. Czechoslovakia). This locality is very interesting for the collector. During my stays in Cejkov (May 5-9th 1951, June 30th 1954, and July 13-14th 1950) I have found here 142 species of Lepidoptera, of which 58 are Rhopalocera and 42 Geometridae, all collected by day only. In the surroundings of Cejkov are a number of biotopes, chiefly oak woods, hillsides covered with bushes and xerophilous plants, cultivated fields with different agricultural plants (for example corn, tobacco, red pepper, sunflower, etc.), and fruit-trees and vineyards also. Geographi cally this region belongs to the hilly country of cergov, where some of hills reach about 350-470 m a.s.!. Towards the south is low-lying land (99-125 m a.s.l.) on the rivers Ondava and Bodrog. The locality of Cejkov is situated on the border between this lowland and the hilly region, at an elevation above sea level of about 180 m.
