    PIER 57 A PIER WITHOUT PEER Designed by Emil H. Praeger and built in 1954 by the New York City Marine and Aviation Department, Pier 57 stands as a testament to American ingenuity and represents the can-do spirit of innovation that animated the rebuilding of America in the decade following the Second World War. The 875-foot-long Pier 57 is an engineering marvel.
