PIER 57 A PIER WITHOUT PEER Designed by Emil H. Praeger and built in 1954 by the City Marine and Aviation Department, stands as a testament to American ingenuity and represents the can-do spirit of innovation that animated the rebuilding of America in the decade following the Second World War.

The 875-foot-long Pier 57 is an engineering marvel. Instead of being held aloft by piles driven into the bed of the Hudson, it sits upon colossal concrete boxes — one and a half blocks long and three stories high — that actually float in the river. It’s a technical achievement which earned Pier 57 a place on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, Pier 57 is the beneficiary of a $380,000,000 renovation and redesign project. The result is the establishment of the pier as a future -facing enterprise, that among other things, will be home to one of the world’s leading technology companies: Google. A MIX OF NOTED RETAIL

The retail at Pier 57 will feature artisanal businesses, whose unique offerings will attract a discerning audience with modern tastes. The rooftop park is accessed via the indoor retail corridor. This ensures all visitors encounter the retail environ- ment, which is anchored at the far end of the building by premium dining and enter- tainment, further encouraging full walk-through. PIER 57 OCCUPIES AN ENVIABLE LOCATION

The biking, running and walking path that runs directly in front of Pier 57 is the most used in the United States and carries tens of thousands of adventurous New Yorkers past its doors every single day.

Just North of the Meatpacking District, and only a block from the , Pier 57 is perfectly positioned to be visited by sightseers from both destinations. POINTS OF INTEREST MAP
