Creating Unity in Community: How PVD performers create connection in virtual space and what they’ll take with them into physical space When I sat down (virtually), with three Rhode Island musicians, I had no idea their takeaways from navigating pandemic life would overlap as much as they did. For all three, Dylan Block-Harley, Chachi Carvalho and Roz Raskin, what’s most important is creating art and community in Rhode Island and beyond. This three-article series explores how having to pivot to engage with virtual programming has impacted and inspired them. The first interview in this series is with Dylan Block-Harley (MisSter Dylan), a dedicated creator and long-time Providence musician who comes from a family of performers and storytellers. When I asked him about performing in virtual spaces, he talked about a show he did with his dad Bill Harley (hands down his number one influence) and his brother Noah Block-Harley (of the Horse-eyed Men), which was livestreamed from the Columbus Theatre. Mayté Antelo-Ovando: What has the experience of performing virtually been like? Dylan Block-Harley: From talking to [my dad] it seems like the big challenge is changing your mindset from performing to an audience that’s a living creature — in the room with you, [to being] online, [where] that is removed. I think it can feel like a vacuum. The job is to switch the mentality to more of a TV sort of mindset. That’s what my dad said, “The person you’re performing to is right there.” So it’s this direct like, “Hi! How are you? You know, how are YOU doing?” Which, if you think about it, is actually a really powerful, totally different opportunity and way to connect with people. -
WEGART NOVINKY MAREC 2007 – 1. Časť
WEGART NOVINKY MAREC 2007 – 1. č.: 1723674 EAN: 602517236745 Godspeed You! Black Emperor – Yanqui U.X.O. (Constellation) Montrealskí GY!BE si získali celosvetové uznanie svojou epickou, inštrumentálnou hudbou a taktiež militantne anarchistickými postojmi. č.: CST024 EAN: 666561002411 No-Man – Speak (Headphone Dust) Legendárni No-Man (Steven Wilson, Tim Bowness) v reedícii vydávajú albumy zo svojho najlepšieho obdobia. Speak je dozaista jeden z ich top-albumov, poetický, elegantný, nad časový, s nádhernými baladickými songami a bartókovskými hus ľami ich vtedajšieho spoluhrá ča Bena Colemana. -

Thesis Writing Deliverables (Pdf)
DEFENSE SPEECH Discovering and listening to music has always been my biggest passion in life and my primary way of coping with my emotions. I think its main appeal to me since childhood has been the comfort it brings in knowing that at some point in time, another human felt the same thing as me and was able to survive and express it by making something beautiful. For my project, I recorded a 9 track album called Strange Machines while I was on leave of absence last year. This term, I created a 20 minute extended music video to accompany it. All of this lives on a page I coded on my personal website with some fun bonus content that I’ll scroll through at the end of this presentation. I’ll put the link in the comments so anyone who’s interested can check it out at their own pace. I have so much fun making music and feel proud when I have a cohesive finished product at the end. I’m not interested in becoming a virtuoso musician or a professional producer. A lot of trained musicians gatekeep, intimidate, and discourage amateurs. People mystify and mythologize the creative process as if it’s the product of some elusive, innate genius rather than practice, experimentation, and a simple love of music. As someone who’s work exists entirely as digital recordings, there’s no inherent reason for me to be an amazing guitar player who can play a song perfectly all the way through, as mistakes can be easily cut out and re-recorded. -

Issue Eight July 2019 Angel City Review Foreward
Issue Eight July 2019 Angel City Review Foreward Looking through these pages I am proud to see the work of all these amazing writers. It is humbling see all these who trusted us with their work to allow us to share these pieces with the world. There is so much beauty, and strength in the work being presented here from writers across the gamut. There is no singular perspective and yet they all create a cohesive whole as to the portrait of the human experience. I am also humbled by the amazing work that the editors have done with this magazine. They have all put in tireless hours working to mold their respective sections into their vision and to present our readers with work that excited and amazed them. I recall our new poetry editor Janice Sapigao telling me how much joy reading the submissions were – how many great writers were submitting. It is that level of passion that we all take in our own work and the same level of passion we want to put into sharing it with all of you. We hope you take as much joy in reading this as we had putting it together. - Zachary Jensen Angel City Review Issue 8 2019 Zachary Jensen: Managing Editor Janice Sapigao: Poetry Editor Kristin Kaz: Prose Editor John Venegas: Lead Editor/Book Review Editor Cover Photo and Art: E Villa E Villa is a Mexican Artist and Educator living in Los Angeles California. 1 Amazing Grace
1Amazing Grace BY JOHN NEWTON 1. Amazing grace, how sweet the sound That saves a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I'm found; Was bound, but now I’m free. 2. 'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear And grace my fear relieved; How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed. 3. Through many dangers, toils and snares We have already come; 'Twas grace that brought us safe thus far, And grace will lead us on. 4. When we've been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun, We've no less days to sing God's praise Than when we’d first begun. 5. Amazing grace, how sweet the sound That saves a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I'm found; Was bound, but now I'm free. 2Just aCloser Walk With Thee TRADITIONAL 1. Just a closer walk with Thee, Grant it, Jesus, is my plea; Daily walking close with Thee, Let it be, dear Lord, let it be. 2. Through the days of toil and snares, If I falter, Lord, who cares? Who with me my burden shares? None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee. 3. When my feeble life is o'er Time for me will be no more; Guide me gently, safely on To thy shore, dear Lord, to thy shore. 4. I am weak, but Thou art strong. Jesus, keep me from all wrong. I'll be satisfied as long As I walk, let me walk close to Thee. -
Sermon Sept 6 JH Falling Short Take a Load Off Fanny
Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church Knoxville, Tennessee Dr. Jay Howell September 6, 2020 “Falling Short: Take a Load Off, Fanny” Matthew 11:25-30 Whatever it is, we are bound to fall short. There is no such thing as a runaway success in life that just hits it out of the park on every single facet. No such thing. And we’ve spent the past couple of weeks of this series “Falling Short” unpacking the frustration and the futility we can feel when we try to live up to it. But more importantly than that, we’ve looked at the freedom and the relief we can know when we accept and embrace the fact that there is nothing we can do to make God love us more and that there is nothing we can do to make God love us less. The love and grace of the Lord is not about what we do, but rather what Christ has done. So at this point, you might be wondering, well preacher if it’s not about what I do, guess I should just keep binge-watching Cobra Kai and call it a day, huh? The grace of God, the love of God, sure, I get that. But what’s the point of doing anything if it’s not about what we do? Now that’s a question. Will you pray with me? Holy God, for the Word spoken and heard today, may it not be mine but yours. Amen. The priest had been thrown to the walls of his jail cell, only to look up and see an unlikely defender.
